Nice security camera The Lorex

Nice security camera
The Lorex Indoor 1080p Wi-Fi Network Security Camera is a really good, inexpensive option if you need extra security on a budget. It produces a super clear picture with good color reproduction and detail. Low-light response is excellent.
The app has lots of functionality. It detects motion, as well as sound, and will record on motion, with notifications to your phone so you know when unwanted people are in the house. What I really like is that there are no monthly fees like with many competing products.
Great camera, great app, inexpensive. Check, check, check.

Good quality, weak Alexa support

Good quality, weak Alexa support and lorex softwar
The camera has excellent video quality and night time clarity. Setup is a breeze but you must create and register for Lorex account. The camera ships with a pre installed 16gb Micro SD card, which is nice to get started. WiFi connection is pretty strong with google home link up very quick, but to date unable to get Alexa to find the camera.
I dislike that mounting via the camera magnetic base involves screwing into your Location surfaces to mount the metal plate. The lorex software app is basic and designed for small screens like your phone but not for larger screens like iPads, etc...

Great indoor security camera
The camera arrived in a completely recyclable packaging.
The instructions were clear and easy to follow.
The accessories included allow for a variety of mounting options.
I decided to use the stand and not attach to a wall for ease of moving it around since I'm using it mostly to keep an eye on my pets at home.
The app for the camera was easy to understand but I had a bit of a hard time getting the phone camera to read the QR code in the back of the camera to add it to my network and the code was so small that typing it manually was not possible without a magnifying glass...
Other than that little hiccup, everything else went well.
The camera resolution is adequate and the angle of view allows to see an entire room.
Another small item was that it kept reverting to IR lighting at some points when it was unnecessary, but luckily you can disable the auto-IR low light setting in the app settings.
Once connected to the network and power supply, it performed as expected.
I would have liked it if the camera had a rechargeable battery to be able to be used where there are no power plugs, but that may make the camera more expensive.
The notifications are very quick, less than a second from when it detects activity and the app displays the thumbnail of the event.
When you click it you have the view options.
It records the videos of said activity to the included micro-SD card and it records in a loop, erasing the earlier videos unless saved elsewhere.
One thing I liked is the 2-way sound. I saw one of my cats doing something he shouldn't have so I use this option to discourage bad behavior. The cat jumped! So I hope to use this option as a deterrent to have my pets behave when I'm not around.
Overall I'll say it's good value for the cost.

Great Security Camera I basically

Great Security Camera
I basically use this camera to spy on my dog. After downloading the app, setup is quick and easy. From my phone, I can now see what my pup is doing and also talk to her through the built-in microphone. MicroSD card is included. Highly recommend.

This review is for the 1080p Full HD Smart Indoor Wi-Fi Security Camera model # W261ASC-E. I have been using Lorex cameras since the FLIR camera and am currently using two Lorex Wi-Fi security cameras model # FS21FBK.
The W261ASC camera is a full HD, 1080P (2K) security camera. The camera has a very good image (although I would prefer that they offered this camera in a 4K version), excellent color rendition, a fairly wide field of view at 115 degrees and some advanced features including person/vehicle recognition, privacy mode and geofencing. Geofencing essentially turns the camera off if it detects your smart phone nearby and then turns it on automatically when you leave home. This feature is really only useful if you live by yourself. The recorded images are stored on a memory card in the camera. Access to the camera's functions and images from a smart device is very quick even over the cellular network when away from home. The sound quality with the 2 way talk is excellent and much better than in Lorex's earlier camera models.
For some reason I have had problems configuring new Lorex cameras via the Lorex Home app using an iPhone. After ensuring that my iPhone which has the latest version of the Lorex app and IOS 14.2 was connected to the 2.4 ghz band on my router I tried to install this camera unsuccessfully. I kept getting the spining wheel and then a 'device not found' error message. I suspect that I have changed some setting on the iPhone which prevented the installation. Some documentation on required iPhone settings for installation from Lorex would be helpful. After spending about 30 minutes doing reboots and resets I grabbed my Android table and had the camera installed in less than 2 minutes. Overall a very good security camera with a couple of limitations which are;
1) With the Person Detection set to ON, it only records 2 to 6 seconds of movement after the motion detection triggers recording which makes this function useless for me.
2) The night vision range is a maximum of 33 feet per the specs. In a dark room with only ambient external lighting from outside such as street lights, the range for motion detection drops very quickly although the image quality is very good to at least 25 feet when the camera does detect a motion and starts recording. In my experience the night vision motion detection range is about 10 feet even when the camera is set on maximum sensitivity.
3) On maximum motion sensitivity the camera will be triggered by even a spec of dust floating by resulting in a lot of false alarms.

This Lorex WiFi camera is a very nice and affordable WiFi camera. Resolution is very good, and best of all it works with the Lorex Home App. It doesn?t have the deference features but the price reflects that. Love the magnetic mounting feature.

Great security camera You can

Great security camera
You can never be too safe and the security camera works great, has a great wide angle view without the overly excessive wide angle camera distortion, and it is super easy to set up. I have mine set up in the basement to view the back door but I hope to never get a notification on my phone that a person has been detected. It does work though. When testing, I got a notification of movement, I popped right into the Lorex app and saw it was just me thankfully. The resolution is great too. If you have more than 1 you can set it up to see all of them at one time. You can also set motion zones and sensitivity so you aren�t setting it off all the time and you can turn notifications off if you�re in the area so you don�t continually get notifications about you being in the area. I love that it provides all those features without needing a subscription. All the recording is right to the included micro SD card and runs off your WiFi for notifications. Also comes with mounting stuff but I just have mine on it�s base and it feels stable. Overall Great camera, simple to use, the app is easy to use, and I have some extra peace knowing I have an extra eye out at all times.
