Want to love it but...

I was SOOO excited when I saw this set, I love just about everything about it, EXCEPT that the only female on board is a less than awesome busty red headed mermaid figurehead. I feel almost mocked by this build, where I really thought I'd be thrilled by it. I'm certain Grace O'Malley, Zheng Yi Sao, Mary Read, and Anne Bonney would offer the plank to those who tried to deny them passage on this otherwise awesome ship.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Very difficult

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This has taken my daughter days and days to assemble, it came with so many bags of materials she was unable to figure out where to start and what page of direction went with what bag of Legos. She ended up never wanting to finish it because of the amount of frustration and time it took to assemble this product.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Multiple missing pieces

Haven’t quite finished the build yet, but my 5 yr old so far has really been enjoying it. He can build it mostly on his own, with some occasional help from parents.
My only complaint is that in one of the bags, we are missing pieces. So far, 4 pieces haven’t been in one of the bags and they aren’t basic lego bricks so really hard to replace. The bag must have missed quality controls or something, as we’ve never had this happen with any of our other lego sets. But it’s definitely put a stop to our build unfortunately.

an excellent build! Was a blast to build and it ended up looking better than the pictures when it was built. It looks fantastic next to our skull dungeon! Was a little apprehensive about the solid brick sails, but i think they ended up looking very impressive. A perfect set!

A very satisfying build

I like that it's all brick built and not a very repetitive build. The color palette really makes everything pop. I "borrowed" one minifig from my barracuda Bay and stored the shark, though clever, and the seagull. Those were a bit cartoonish but maybe just right for the younger builders. Overall, very well done and entertaining.
