They Don’t Fly :(

I purchased this set for my 5 year old son. We were both excited to see the helicopters fly.
After the build we went out to test the helicopters. We went out to a Park with an open field, we did not want the helicopters to get stuck on a tree or on anyone’s roof.
The first attempt , with all of the figures and cockpit I place failed to take off. My son’s attempted to pull as hard as he could and no take off just a controlled fall from his outstretched arms. We tried from a higher surface to give it more hang time. That was not the solution.
Second attempt, no figure in the cockpit. Same result, did not take off.
Third attempt, no cockpit cover no figuring, failed to launch.
My son loves the plane, the building of it, the fox image, the fact that the figuring is named Rivera, just like he is. But we are both disappointed that the helicopters did not launch.
Really bad design.
I’m going to have to request a refund.

Helicopter doesn't fly

bought for nephew. I cant make it fly higher than a few inches off the handle, even without the pilot.
Awesome idea though. Probably some good application of pieces to other builds? Not a great execution. Disappointing.

To get the plane to fly, point the propeller in the direction you want the plane to fly (perpendicular to the ground - NOT at the sky like a normal helicopter) and pull the plastic piece. Lots of fun!!

Awesome for a righty

This product is great if you’re right handed. However, it was purchased for a lefty and there’s extreme frustration bc it’s made for a righty. Maybe consider ambidextrous flyers next time?

Worst Set Ever

I’m only writing a review so that you won’t make the same mistake by buying this set. We have spent thousands of dollars on LEGO (3 boys aged 3, 6, and 8) and this is easily the most disappointing set.
The copters don’t even come close to flying. They awkwardly spin off the launcher, and immediately fall to the floor quite forcefully. I remember similar toys as a kid that worked great.
These should never have gotten out of product development and are definitely not worth $40.
The airplane is cool...

Give it a chance!!

I don't think that the negative reviewers really gave this set a chance. With the high level of quality control, LEGO wouldn't have put out a product like this that doesn't work!
It takes a little experimentation and practice, but we were able to get the helicopters to fly 30+ feet. It is a whole body motion and you need to get the timing right with the pull and the throw.
My 5 year old son and I love this set. Yes, the helicopters have no parts that are compatible with other LEGO parts, but this was necessary because the helicopters can't fly with extra weight. The LEGO quality is there and your able to put any minifig in the cockpit. Not sure what else you could ask for. It is also very easy for a younger child to assemble.
Additionally, the plane that comes with the set is a wonderful model on its own. The box makes it look like the highlights are red, but they are actually the more rare coral color. This hot pink color makes an awesome color scheme with the blue.
We had a lot of fun placing the plane in front of a fan and watching the propeller spin. You can also place the helicopters on top of an upward facing fan like an air purifier and the propellers will spin on their own. This makes a very nice display.
I don't normally do reviews, but I felt like I needed give my perspective and I can't say enough good things about this set. Having all the extra play value is great! It's educational and you can get exercise playing with it! This set has it all!
I would recommend this to a friend!

This product does not fly

I’m compelled to write a review for the first time to warn folks. These helicopters are very poorly designed. As another reviewer described, the rotors and such need modifications. As an adult I can get them to fly marginally. Kids have no shot and get frustrated. They require precision arm movement in an upward trajectory and a clean pull to even have a shot at flying. You fling them more than they take off.
Overall, the plane is fine. But for this price and paying for the concept of flying your various Lego pilots into the air…it’s a complete failure. Please avoid.
