The best MarioKart track yet!

He has some of the other smaller sets (which fit with Bowsers Castle), and this one held his attention for a longer period of time. We were able to play together and he was able to play on his own. The assembly was quick and easy. All of the different MarioKart Hot Wheels cars worked great on this track. The only thing I would change about this product is how it can be stored. Once it has been put together, some pieces do not come apart. We were able to break it down enough to fit completed parts in a bin, but I'm not looking forward to putting it together every time we want to play.

Great racing track

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We received the Hot Wheels MarioKart Bowser's Castle Chaos Playset to review and I'm so glad! It has become a fixture in our house and gets played with every day. The kids never get tired of racing against each other.
The track was easy to assemble, my 5 year old and I set it up in less than 20 minutes, and that included applying the stickers. The track comes with a track loop for 2 cars, a launching handle, and a Bowser figure who raises and lowers his arms, potentially blocking the car from passing by.
One thing that I was disappointed with is that the set comes with one racer only. We have a lot of Hot Wheels cars at our house and it took a lot of experimentation to find a car that would make it around the track and slide back to the starting bay like the included Yoshi racer did. I would recommend that Mattel include a second race car so that you can start the fun right after setting it up.
Once the track is set up, it was super easy to race! Just put the car in the starting bay, slam down (harder than I initially thought - this thing is sturdy!) and they're off! I like that you can set Bowser to on or off, depending on the age and skill of your racers. My 5 year old was able to time it up to sneak by him without getting caught but my 3 year old had trouble. She was much happier when we turned him off and the cars could race underneath him.
When the cars have completed the loop they automatically hit the flagpole, which drops the pole down a notch. The idea is the first person to complete 5 laps around the track wins. I like this idea because it gives a better chance of a fair race- a lot of things can happen in those 5 laps! I do wish that the flagpole was marked differently, so that you could more easily visualize when the 5 laps were done and the race is over. It was tough to tell by just looking at from a distance.
The kids love the idea that this set is compatible with other Hot Wheels tracks, and so they had fun connecting different sets and loops and making their own tracks.
Overall this is a great toy. It's big enough to be exciting but not so big that it takes up your whole living room. We are looking forward to purchasing the other racers and additional Mario Kart track sets to integrate with Bowser's Castle.

Fun for Any Mario Kart Fan!

He already had a couple of the smaller Mario Kart Hot Wheel sets, so this was a very fun addition to the collection. When I first opened the box and looked at all the pieces and instructions it seemed a little overwhelming to put together, but it ended up being fairly easy and only took me about 10 minutes to put together. At first, we had some difficulty getting the cars to make it successfully around the full track and through the loop. It was a little frustrating at first, but my son stuck with it with no problem and we were able to get it working most of the time with just a little practice. He really enjoyed playing with this set, and I believe it is something he will continue to play with regularly. He loves Mario Kart and this is a super fun set for him to play hands on with!

Screen free MarioKart

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My kids love MarioKart, but when you have to break them away from the screen, this is a fun alternative for the whole family. We already had the smaller Chain Chomp set which 1 person can play at a time. We loved this set that allows for 2 players! We were also able to connect our smaller set to expand the already massive track (note to adults you'll need space as it's approximately 3' x 3' when assembled). Bonus is the items that move are all kid powered including the Bowser obstacle which is wind up and has an on/off switch so younger kids (or struggling adults) can set it for easier play so no batteries needed!
My only con for the whole thing is that it only comes with 1 MarioKart car, but is a 2 player track. Be sure to order a 2nd kart if you want your Mario characters to battle it out. Other Hot Wheels cars also work, but depending on size & weight may not handle the loop.

Great track set!

I like how you can use a variety of cars on the track and of course Mario themed is great. It was super easy to put together, even my almost 4yr old daughter was helping set it up. I highly recommend this and will be buying more Mario cars to go with it.

Fun for all ages

I bought this about two months ago and it's so cool! I'm 19 but Hot Wheels are one of those toys that are fun no matter your age. And I really love Mario Kart. This track is awesome! The Bowser statue is accurate to the one from 8's Bowser's Castle. The loop is cool and the flags are a nice touch. Good track but I don't understand why it comes with a Blue Yoshi and not the king of koopas himself. Still awesome! All I worry about is breaking the launchers because I'm rather strong. Just be sure to get another car. It isn't a race with one vehicle.

Unique and fun to play with!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received the Hot Wheels Mario Kart Bowsers Castle Chaos Playset as part of the Play, Rate & Review program. My two boys love Hot Wheels cars and tracks, but more recently have become fans of Mario and Mario Kart. Bringing the two together has given them a chance to blend two things they enjoy, without the electronics, and they absolutely love it! Its a fun track set with the ability for two "players" to each launch a car side by side and race, but the race isn't just against each other, as there is a cool and unique wind up function on the track that makes a giant Bowser swing his arms around and try to stop the cars from going through. Both sides have a loop and they also have another unique function. When the cars get to the end of the track on their side, it is designed to turn the car around and back it into the launcher, making it easier for the person playing to launch it again. My kids are ages 8 and 4 and they have been having so much fun with playing with the track and they enjoy the fact that its different from others and that it is Mario Kart themed. On another note, the track comes with a Blue Yoshi kart which is special to the track. There are ways that one could attach more pieces to the track and expand it if wanted but it seems to be just fine as is. Honestly, with the unique parts of the track, and how it plays, it feels like they grasped what is fun with Mario Kart as a video game, and managed to simplify it without losing the fun, and pack it into a physical toy that kids can enjoy and get away from the screens for a while.
