[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I'm very happy with the printer. It was easy to set up and the toner was already installed, which was nice. The feature I appreciate most (and the primary reason for buying this model) is the ability to scan and print double-sided automatically. I had an HP deskjet that was very slow, and this LaserJet is much, much faster. Toner is not cheap, but I expect that in the long term it will be much less expensive than the ink was for my old printer. It was a bit heavy to remove from the box and place next to my PC, but I was aware of that when I bought it, and I do not expect to have to move it. I bought an extended warranty (HP CarePack), which I would recommend - if a printer needs repair, this is the way to go. My only issue is that I had expected an email within 30 days from HP with instructions on registering the CarePack, and that never came. I had to call them to get that registered - you don't want to have to be dealing with that a year down the road when and if it needs service! (Finding the purchase order number, etc., can be a real hassle if you're not well-organized.) Overall, I am extremely happy with my purchase - I've been an HP fan for decades, because the make superior printers IMHO.

Not very happy with this at the moment. I purchased this because I wanted to be able to print from both my Mac and Windows laptop. HP Easy setup was not as easy as it is supposed to be. My husband could not get the printer to work and is still trying to configure his laptop to be compatible with this printer even though he downloaded the proper software, etc. I got my Mac to work but I thought the color laser would be crisp however the color on the printout is faded looking and light compared to my previous HP inkjet printer. And last but not least, it is supposed to be wireless and I have it right next to my router and yet it takes forever for the printer to receive the information and begin printing. I'm not impressed.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Horrible double-sided scanning through the ADF

The ADF double sided scanning is HORRIBLE! It pulls multiple pages in at one time leaving multiple pages unscanned.

I have used an all-in-one inkjet printer for more over 10 years, and was hesitant to try a laserjet, but the MFP M479fdw performs every function of an all-in-one printer, prints double-sided copies (a must for me), and the print quality is much better than most printers. It prints very quietly, and one of my favorite features is that the printed material remains in an inner tray rather than printing to an outside tray that can sometimes allow the documents to dispense out of order. This is a very upscale printer for a very reasonable price!
I would recommend this to a friend!
