Good Purchase at Half Price

I've loved this game since the 80s, and was contemplating buying this countercade for a few weeks, but couldn't quite justify the price. I waited (glad i did), and just bought it for half of it's original price. Granted the screen could be better, but i'm not a great player, and i'm not playing it longer than an hour, so there's no glaring issue. I would recommend buying this on sale though, it is not worth the original, steep, price tag.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Great Family Fun

I am so glad I purchased this arcade game. It has brought back lots of memories and provided hours of fun for my sister, mother and I.
The buttons and joystick are of decent quality as well. They aren’t arcade quality, but the price doesn’t reflect that either. You can’t expect it to have the same buttons as a $5000 arcade unit.
The artwork is fantastic and didn’t have any blemishes on it. There is also a protective screen over the artwork where the joystick and buttons are, which is great addition. That protects it from developing marks over time and looking unappealing.
Now onto the screen size and quality. It was my main concern when purchasing this unit. The screen is an 8 inch LCD screen, which is of average quality. It isn’t wonderful viewing it from an angle, but it’s decent given the distance you’ll be playing it from. I haven’t noticed any clarity issues or lines of any kind. Ms. PacMan looks great as do the other ghosts and such. To me it sounds like one of the other reviewers may have received a defective unit. Of course, he/she could have returned it if that is the case.
The only thing I wish was included on this machine was a full list of high scores. As it is right now it only shows the highest score, but no other scores are listed. It is a small issue, but definitely worth mentioning.
In any event, this is a great little unit and well worth the money in my opinion. I don’t know why people expect so much when it isn’t even feasible to make a unit like this for even close to the same price. And just think of what it costs an average family to go to the movies together. Now that is expensive!

So much potential - and a glaring issue

This is my first Arcade1Up cabinet . The build quality, art, and controls are top notch. One issue with the controls however is how close the buttons are to the stick, making it easy to accidently hit the 1 or 2 player button while just using the stick. With audio on, hitting these buttons makes a noticeable "coin insert" sound and would remind you to reposition your hands, but with volume down, it's possible to reset your game in the middle of playing (by holding one of those 2 buttons down for 5 seconds).
This is a small problem that you can learn to deal with, however, the show stopper for me is the display. When I say this is a bad quality lcd display, I mean I haven't seen a display nearly this bad in well over a decade. It's 2020, LCD tech is pretty mature - but this is bottom of the barrel stuff here. First off, viewing angles are abyssmal. This would be fine if the view from front on was acceptable, but it is not. Looking at it head on, your right eye will see light bleed from the left side of the screen while your left eye sees light bleed from the right side of the screen. The effect is not unlike the discomfort of having your eyes crossed. On top of the shoddy display quality, they apparently added some kind of "filter" to the video output to make it appear more like the old CRT displays of yore. Unfortunately this ends up as blurry artifact ridden graphics. Pretty sure ms pacman is supposed to be SOLID yellow in color, but low and behold, on this unit, she's got... random holes in her body. I THINK they were trying to emulate scan lines, but somehow the scanlines don't go across the entire screen? and instead just randomly appear in the sprites as you move around.
This is their 2nd version of the countercade and I have to say I'm pretty upset - I'm finding it almost unplayable. The silverlining is the cabinet itself is gorgeous and with a little extra money put toward a modding effort, could be amazing . This is likely what I will end up doing since as it is - it's a glorified paper weight.
I will not be purchasing any more arcade1up machines until I've actually tried them first.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Not bad, but needs more games. Galaga is my jam. Needs donkey Kong scramble asteroids and joust Plus, if your ramming buttons, you can easily reset the game and make you upset more
