This is not what I purchased, I have the 14 cup unit. The carafe is hard to put back in and the metal band has really sharp edges. I don't like this new one as much as the older 12 cup.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

My family has always purchased this cuisinart model coffee maker! Excellent coffee taste with ease of operation! Red metal is perfect for my kitchen. There is always a little bit of water underneath the coffee maker though.
