[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I am using this system to both be something I can run the latest games on, but also be my work system at home. I was slightly concerned, from a few reviews on the web, that it may be too loud. I have been pleasantly surprised on how quiet it actually is. Now during heavy gaming, sure it will wind up pretty good and that is fine. However doing coding and development work it is pretty quiet with a fairly quiet hum.
Overall I am very happy with this purchase. Coming from a long time Alienware, I had my concerns. However this has been a great start and I may be a convert to Omen for my future laptop purchases.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Its great, if fits my needs. Finally a laptop with enough power to run the games I enjoy. It also keeps me updated on potential overheating so it should last awhile
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought the HP Omen 17t with the i9-9880H and 2080 RTX and 32GB of RAM (I'll be running VMs on this soon). I'm very happy I picked those items. I'm able to play Doom Eternal, Borderlands 3, etc... on very high resolution. This was my first 144Hz monitor as well (moved from 60Hz) and I'm very impressed. I had this laptop on my doorstep 2 weeks before it was scheduled to when I bought it. That's in the middle of the COVID-19 lockdowns, too.
No dead pixels which is awesome. Keyboard feels good, and the full RGB looks cool when you change the settings to match your wallpaper. There wasn't much bloatware installed when this arrived as well, but I went ahead and completely reformatted the laptop with a clean W10 install. I did reinstall the HP Omen Command software as you can control fan speed and max temperatures with it.
This laptop isn't too heavy either. This is the first laptop I've owned were everything has worked flawlessly. Usually there's some relatively significant quirk, but I have yet to find that with this laptop.
The only limitation that I think is worth mentioning is the battery life. It's horrific, but I wasn't planning on using this without being plugged in, so not a big deal for my use case. I can probably get a solid hour, maybe two of battery life, with the Power Saver profile + Battery Save mode enabled. My wife and I joke that the battery exists only so you can switch rooms without having to shut the computer down between unplugging and plugging it back in.
