The lid to carafe is time consuming to open, not an easy thumb flip. It takes cone filters which are more expensive. The opening to pour in water is too small.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

This is my 3rd Cuisinart coffee maker. The previous 2 had to be replaced after leaking from the water reservoir during the brewing process. They last about 6-7 years. The coffee is great and consistent and, but for the chronic leaking problem, it would have earned 5 stars.

I've used many coffee makers over the last three-quarters of a century to brew an ocean of coffee and this Cuisinart stands at the top in performance and price.
Regardless of the amount I brew, 4 or 12 cups, the flavor is great. Counter appeal is perfect, not too big and gaudy, just a strong presence on the kitchen counter.
