It feels like a premium

It feels like a premium quality bag. I love how customizable the camera cube is. I do like it the bag as a whole, but I wish it had a little more pockets or utility on the inside of the main bag (not the camera cube part, that part is fine).

Slightly small for anything larger

Slightly small for anything larger than a small DSLR camera if you want to put in an extra lens and a couple of very small accessories (e.g extra batteries etc.). But well made and seems durable.

It’s too small to pack
on March 2, 2021

It’s too small to pack a DSLR/mirrorless camera and or lens. The dividers that come with it are awkward because they don’t form to the correct size to fit these items. Not recommend for use with cameras and lenses.

Great companion to the McKinnon Camera Backpack. Mr. McKinnon knows exactly what we need and it’s evident in the design of this bag. The Cube Pack is very multifunctional.

Based off the pictures provided

Based off the pictures provided on the website it is deceptively smaller. I have a D-850 and it will not fit with a lens on it in the bottom compartment. if i want to put the camera body in the bottom i have to take the lens off and lay it with the screen facing down/up. witch defeats the purpose of it being a day pack, for me. the dividers are almost pointless for the size it is. I can fit a nikore 70-200mm and a 20 mm prime with hoods in the bottom, just barley, with about an 1 1/2 " space ( at its apex) running the length of it with the large divider running the length of it. This is with putting the camera body in the upper pack area with a 24-70mm nikore attached. with the camera in the upper area there is enough space for a jacket and maybe a water bottle. there is one pocket in the upper pack area with zipper. there are two zippers on the upper pack opening but only one on the bottom area so if you want to put a lock on the zippers you would only be able to on the top area. there is no padding on the shoulder straps, its basically the material you find on some jim shorts with a liner on the sides. there is a chest strap connecting the shoulder straps so that dose take the weight of the shoulders. the shoulder straps fit closer to you armpits due to its size so it makes it taking off somewhat difficult. I'm 6'-2" and 240lbs, wide in the chest, so take that for what its is. the material of the upper pack is what you might find on a rain cote, it sounds cheep moving it around but seems to be thick enough for durability. iv had it for a day so we will see. the zippers on the top area run all the way down to the bottom area so you wont be digging around in the bottom for anything. over all it seems to be a useful pack, just not the way i thought it would. i made it work. i don't like that i have to put the camera in the upper area. there is only padding on the side that rests on your back witch gives it little to no protection from impact.Ive also purchased the larger back pack that this one fits in, I'm much happier with that one. i haven't decided yet if its worth having the two, if i should just stick with the larger one and leave what i don't need for the day in the truck/hotel/ or some other pack.
