Inexpensive, but toasts unevenly. One side of toast always comes out darker than the other - true for both slots, irrespective of settings. This seems to be because some of the elements are a little closer to the insulator and don't get as bright as others. And the manual doesn't describe what the different buttons do. You'd expect that "bagel" would toast one side darker than the other, but pushing that button doesn't do anything except make the Bagel light go on.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Nice little toaster. Doesn’t feel as sturdy as my 20 year old Krups but what does nowadays? Only real gripe is the toast darkness selector is so easy to turn that the slightest rubbing from the cord changes my setting!
