The cord is under the toaster, not in back so it is difficult to plug in.(bad design) The bread is heated unevenly. Very dark in some places and not dark enough in others. We would have returned the toaster if we had bought it locally; we bought it online.

I bought this model to replace another another identical model that lasted for 17 years, so I am comparing apples to apples. The handle on this toaster must be "forced into ON" unlike the smoother mechanism on the old one. Very disappointing.

Bought it because it was highly rated in New York Times Wirecutter. I am very disappointed, and will be returning the toaster. Apparently a lemon. It toasts extremely unevenly in both slots, one side of the bread fully toasted, the other only slightly. One of the slots toasts the bottom of the slice heavily, and the top hardly at all. I've given it two weeks of use, hoping it would find it's groove, but no luck. As I say, maybe this particular unit is defective, and not representative of the whole, but I won't be buying another one.

I bought this Cuisinart two slice toaster to replace my 20 year old toaster. Now I wish I had kept my old toaster. The Cuisinart toasts bread very unevenly. One side of the bread burns while the other side is very lightly toasted. I have to stand there and pop the toast up early and reverse the bread slices. It's crazy that I have to do this to toast bread. First time I have been disappointed in Cuisinart.
