Great machine (with some tuning)

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I got this laptop for its weight, power, form factor, build quality, keyboard, and battery life.
*i got a june model of this laptop*
The short:
The build is really great, it feels sturdy and its well made.
the sound is better than most laptops, but i suggest headphones for best experience
the colors and the display are the best i've seen so far. Its really good. display does ghost a bit, not a deal breaker though, most gamers wont notice i bet and has never gotten in the way. I just cant read twitch chat XD. Seriously it isnt a big deal I wouldn't not buy this laptop because of it. Hook up a secondary display, and you can have a smoother experience. (didnt test this but I will while still under warrenty)
fingerprint reader straight up doesnt work so far, even with updates and many setups. It works ok for most apparently so take this with a grain of salt.
touchpad and keyboard are amazing, best i've used on a laptop and a pleasure to use. Multi touch and overall accuracy make it the first computer I don't need a mouse for all the time.
Fans:
good, loud and higher pitched. If you arent used to noise from your laptop it might be a bit loud and i suggest an ultrabook in that case. The sound is a really good pitch and headphones easily block it out at low volumes. Gets loud gaming/ doing heavy lifting I suggest a cooling pad for long sessions, or you can tweak the laptop to help with this.
heat:
gets hot out of the box. almost 100c inside 40c outside at worst. Designed very well to combat this pulls air in through wasd area! the keyboard is pretty well cooled mostly but hottest towards back. You can tweak to make it very comfortable to type at light tasks and lower than 90c inside on heavy ones.
Power:
The 1660ti and 4800hs are the bomb (very little gains by getting higher than that except dlss on the 2060). I can play anything I throw at the pc. In content creation such as premiere and unreal engine it works great, but fans can get loud. 3-4 hours on regular gaming a bit under 3 for heaviest loads (stressing cpu and gpu).
The problem that kinda fixed itself :D:
The backlighting/coil whine is basically the largest JOINT AND FIXABLE problem of this laptop, but then again i'm kinda glad they are. Without turning on the keyboard lighting to maximum a noticeably loud yet not ear piercing whining sound can be heard at all times. Headphones with some music seem to block it out but im lucky to have noise cancelling. You need to keep the back lighting on (can still get 8-9 hours battery with some tweaks so no big deal for me honestly). I can live with this weird bug situation. It seems to affect most units. Maybe asus can fix through firmware and I hope they are working on a fix if thats the case, I would appreciate if a rep could help me with a fix too.
Battery:
The dgpu sometimes just turns on with certain applications, I cant stop it aside from disabling in device manager it which I dont intend to do (dunno if its risky or not). Even when manually selecting the program and setting it to use the integrated gpu. This happened with yourphone.exe and programs associated with the epic games launcher. MOST programs can be manually set to use the dedicated gpu or integrated graphics. I turned off yourphone and installed drivers and battery is good for me. I've heard battery ranges from 5-10:30 hours and usually is around 9 as an average with just internet explorer running and browsing the web. Video brings it down maybe an hour or 2 but not much. With tweaks you can get much more
Tweaks:
Now for the tweaks that need to be made... I started with 6 and a half max hours battery life and ended with around 9. It took some pretty advanced tweaks on top of regular reccomended updates but I did it eventually and the solutions are out there. Took me like 10 hours total, to save time the g14 subreddit has all you need (and some dangerous stuff just read through each thread) you can do it in 3 I bet. Be careful and create system backups. I didn't use any drivers not recommended by asus through the myasus app and i get 9 hours. For some people the dgpu shuts off. Mine even when not in the active state and no programs are running sips a tiny bit of power.
Fix the keyboard lighting and coil whine problem, and the dgpu driver, and this laptop is god tier 5 stars. I hope they do. Even with these problems I can easily overlook them and love this laptop. Its for on the go, you can find better performance for the money elsewhere but the experience great and I thanks asus for making this.
(If a rep sees this, please help with the graphics card driver I wouldn't mind an extra hour of battery, and the dedicated graphics is drawing power at idle with the most up to date drivers provided by myasus)

Powerful, Portable, Battery life

I bought this laptop about a month ago and it's been stellar. The performance is absolutely excellent for such a small, light weight body. (110 fps in Apex). I get around 8-9 hours of battery life. I personally think the laptop looks sleek and thin. If you're in the market for a portable gaming laptop, I recommend the Asus g14.

Love This Laptop!!

I bought this laptop from best buy a week ago and I absolutely love it! The design is super minimal and premium which does scream gamer in others faces! The keyboard is excellent and the touch pad is super smooth and precise. Speaking of smooth, the 120 hz display is like butter and looks amazing! The colours look nice and natural since its calibrated! The performance of the internals actually keep up with the display as well! The Ryzen 7 4800hs and 1660ti max q allow me to play many games at high settings! The laptop stays pretty cool considering its a 14 inch chassis. I highly recommend this laptop to everyone that needs to get work done during the day and game all night! The minimal design keeps the laptop classy and suitable for important meetings all while meeting the exceptions of an avid mobile gamer.

Great Product!

I bought this laptop a month ago and I am extremely happy about my choice! It can handle heavy games like Watch Dogs 2 and Far Cry: New Dawn with high or extreme graphical settings (60fps+). It is not even that loud, when the fans are working into the Turbo mode. With not that great headphones I am unable to hear the sound from fans.
Quality of the product is great, keyboard sometimes gets hot under the load, but it is expected and does not influence the usage at all.
Sound system is a big WOW! I can go to another room and still here the sound of a movie or a song from the laptop.
The deal breaker for me was the battery. But I am pretty impressed with it in this gaming laptop! With the brightness up high I was able to watch 3 movies non-stop without charging the battery, so it gave me approximately 7-8 hours of performance.
Microphone built in laptop is amazing with noise cancelling system it depicts everything greately!
Overall, would recommend everyone!
