It?s a good camera. Does a good job. The only downfall is that if it loses power or WiFi. It will not reconnect. That needs to be fixed to be 5 stars. Iv had to unplug the power many times at the outlet after outages to reconnect.. If you are in a area with a lot of power outages. Don?t get this camera until it?s fixed

I have three of these outside my house to view all areas with doors. They work just fine and since it gets cold here in Minnesota, the operating range down to -22F was important to my decision to add the 2nd and 3rd units after installing the first.

There are cheaper cameras that have the same features this camera has and more but we found out the hard way you get what you pay for. The first camera we tried (differemt brand) cost about 1/2 of what this one does and looked good on paper, even had good video but the motion detection, connectivity and streaming performance, no matter what I tried, were horrendous. The features we had decided on are 1080p, motion detection, floodlight/siren deterrence, mobile viewing and notifications, two way voice, on board recording (no NVR required) and no cloud subscription required.
With all the options for motion detection on this camera, I've been able to get near perfect motion detection day and night so that we only get "person" notifications. Zero connectivity issues. Fast performance on notifications and streaming both live and playback. The app is nicely laid out and works well.
(Full disclosure, I set up a bridged wifi router inside very near where the camera is mounted but the other camera had problems even with an ethernet connection)
That said, I do have a short wish list: Ability to download/share all videos, not just manually recorded videos As mentioned by another reviewer, a better ceiling/desktop mount. Ability to view on a computer.
Other than that, highly recommended for this price point in this category of camera.

We have now had these

We have now had these camera's for 1 year so I am providing a long term review to supplement my December 2019 post. What I have: - 8 of these cameras, they are on the house, detached garage, and even a large tree. - 4 of these cameras I have upgraded the SD card to 128GB (buy from costco) this gives me 10 days of continuous footage and for the price vs days of coverage I think it is the sweet spot.
First the Lorex Home app is constantly getting better, it is easier to add cameras now then in 2019 and so I have confidence any problems with the Lorex app will be resolved by the developer. There have been times that the app cannot access videos but this is usually fixed overnight so just wait until the next day if you want to review a motion event/playback. Biggest take away is not panic as the camera is still recording.
I hope that they consider adding Chromecast support so we can see the video feed on the TV directedly.
I have used a Christmas light extension cord to install one camera in our tree. Do watch out the position of the power supply as rain will follow the cord into the power brick if you are not careful. No issues with -35C weather, even with the camera in the tree where there would be no radiant heat source (house wall).
Wifi range: the 2.4 Ghz will give you much better range so use that band, they do not stream enough data to warrant using the 5 Ghz band even if you are close to the router. We have a netgear router that allowed one SSID for both 2.4 and 5Ghz however the cameras were picking up the 5Ghz connection but then freezing because the signal was to week. I unpaired the 2.4 and 5Ghz and mapped the cameras to the 2.4 and had a much more consistent experience.
Picture quality is very good, both low light and even IR. Obviously limited to 1080p so they won't pick up license plats unless they are static and relatively close. I still would love a 2K or 4K option or even a wired power over IP version that stores the video on the camera, ie no NVR required.
Another plus is you can add each camera as you need them without having to commit or over commit to the size of a NVR, start with 1, 2, or 3 and then expand where needed, we also have 2 of the inside (teardrop style) cameras and they work just as well.
We did have one camera where the SD card ejector broke but we had very good customer support and no issues with the return and replace. It did take a couple of days to have the RMA approved and printable packing slip emailed but come on people this is not life and death if you have to wait a couple of days it won't kill you (Just read some of the review where people are not happy about support).
We are very happy with the cameras
Cheers,

Every thing about camera operation
on December 11, 2019

Every thing about camera operation better than old FX camera. No cloud. Sd card holds over 1 week of video. Motion detection is very good. The only thing i did not like is power line cannot be disconnected from camera.Power line has a plug 3/4 inch big plug which will require a hole in exterior wall at least 3/4 inch big. If you ever have to remove camera the plug is most likely inside house and you will have to fish wire and plug thru exterior hole in wall. Other than this i love camera. would of gave 5 stars if not for size of plug

I currently have 2 of these cameras and have had them for a couple of years. I have 1 at home and 1 at my cabin. They have worked flawlessly and as such, I have ordered a third one. An excellent product for a great price. If you are after piece of mind I would highly recommend this camera.
