YETI 500X Unreliability

As much as I liked the older generation of Goal Zero which I still have several pieces still going strong, I can’t speak well of their new products. I’ve had 2 separate 500X battery packs die on me. The latest one I had for less than 3 months. Goal Zero won’t honor their warranty which sticks me with an expensive brick. Shame on Goal Zero for reducing the quality of equipment. I’ll NEVER buy another Goal Zero product.

Worthless!

Like the other poor reviews... I have only used this battery only three times and now it won't charge. Unfortunately, I didn't keep the receipt so now I have a very large, expensive paperweight. I will never buy another GoalZero product again. Buyer beware!

Small package but weak draining battery

I am surprised at how quickly this new goal zero Yeti 500X drains of energy and add in that the battery will not take a full charge (maxes out at 97%) and I am very disappointed in goal zero. My 8 year old Yeti 400 Lithium is well used and power drains from it more slowly the the brand new 500 X. Why'd disappoint me like this. I was a huge fan.

Open Box was a bad idea

I had high hopes, but wish I had just paid full price to spare the trouble. I had no expectations regarding little scratches and packaging, but the rear charge port was non-functional and the LCD display had some faded areas. I sent it back, still don't have a replacement unit or real clear idea or confidence what to expect or when. I did try it out to charge it and see what I could charge with it and it seemed to be ok, but overall confidence is low.

Disappointed with this

I love Goal Zero products however I’m on my 2nd 500X and the screen is failing, once again. I don’t use this feet hard but it’s expensive and seems to be low quality. I’d recommend looking at cheaper models from other companies, as this is not worth a premium.

I used it this last weekend and had my CPAP going all night. It had 69% power left when I woke up after 8.5 hours of sleep.

I bought this for use when the power goes out due to storms or wildfire. But also in case I need to evacuate again, as I have twice in the past few years due to wildfire. Happily, my house was fine both times. But I went to friend's who were without over, so was a most welcome guest as I had two smaller Goal Zero batteries and a portable solar panel, so we could power up our phones and run a small air filter. Having a Yeti 500 means I'll be able to take more storage with me in case of prolonged outages. So, I haven't used either component yet. But it's a comfort knowing I have them in my closet with my "go bag" and other important items.

Yeti 500 (Open Box)

I had some hesitation about buying “open box” & when I got it I connected my Boulder Solar Panel to it & it worked without any issues. I checked every ‘outlet’ and all worked as well. If you’re thinking about buying an open box to save some money I would recommend to do it but double/triple check everything out.
I’ve used my Yeti 500 for two weeks straight and didn’t have any problems at all. I love all my GoalZero products.
