Great Purchase

These are great for the Klymaloft pads. I have several pads geared toward backpacking but you can get by simply by blowing them up on your own. But the Klymaloft is much thicker and this pump makes life a whole lot easier.

Powerful little pump!

I purchased the USB rechargeable pump along with the Klymaloft sleeping pad, knowing I could use it for both the sleeping pad and the Klymit Light Weight Dinghy (LWD) that I received for Christmas. This pump is awesome and puts out a lot of power for how light weight it is. I was able to inflate and deflate the sleeping pad and the LWD several times each before I noticed the pump starting to run out of juice. This is a great addition to my backpacking gear!

I haven't opened up my package yet, so I feel silly reviewing the items I purchased although I am looking forward to using them.

Convenient and packable.

I ordered this pump some time ago, but I didn't want to drop a review on it until I had plenty of time to beat it up. I use the Klymit Insulated Static V Luxe on most of my backpacking overnights and inflating this the old-fashioned way gets old fast. Especially if you are doing multiple nights, or backpacking in the colder seasons. I looked at purchasing a pump from a third party, or even a Klymit pump sack. However, some of the chatter I was getting said that the valves on the newer Static V's would create a problem with those two options. So, I bought Klymit's pump.
I tested it at home first. Even out of the box it had enough juice to inflate my Static V and my Static V Luxe, but not 100%. That's an important note I'll return to. For the trips I have taken it on I have charged it beforehand, and have packed my Static V Luxe.
Klymit's Electric Pump is definitely packable. It didn't take up a lot of space in my gear, and unless you count ounces, it's weight is small enough to make very little difference for the average backpacker or camper. The charge holds well. I have not used it for a week at a time yet, but for multiple nights it held charge. I should note, that when not in use I made a point to keep it rolled up in my extra clothing because all batteries are not fond of cold. It is super simple to use for either inflating or deflating. That may seem like small potatoes, but when your hands are freezing, it is well appreciated. Being able to deflate the pad using this pump was a big plus. If you need to pack up quickly to move on, it makes a difference.
There are two shortfalls that need to be mentioned. The Klymit pump works quickly, but it will not inflate your pad fully. In 60 seconds your Static V will inflate, but be prepared to give your pad a couple extra breaths if you want it full like I do (side sleepers will understand). Frankly, I didn't anticipate the pump would be able to do this anyway. The other is the nozzle. The fitting on the pad itself has notching that the pump doesn't. The pump is a simple rubber fitting that will seat over your pad's valve, just not very well. If you take the extra couple seconds to make sure it fully covers the pad's valve, it is manageable.
I would like to see a fitting that seats better with Klymit's pad valves on future iterations of this product. Otherwise it performed well enough for me to recommend it to the folks I take with me on the trail. I may be looking into Klymit's pump sack as an alternative in the future.

Poor valve connector

As other reviews have mentioned, the fitting from the pump to the valve on the sleeping pad is very poorly designed and comes off. Otherwise, the pump seems to do the job. But the valve fitting is lousy. I bought it on cyber Monday so I got a good deal. I'm glad I didn't pay full price or I probably would have returned it.
