Be very careful closing the lid

Works great, but poor design. The two hinges for the lid don't just hinge. If they're not both pulled up and away from the keyboard, you will crack the screen. Literally the first time I closed the lid, I didn't notice that one hinge was up and the other was down, now the screen has a big crack and the case is broken.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Works well as a tablet to display sheet music. Orientation gets stuck every once and a while and I have to reboot it to fix. Not necessarily great as a laptop or as a tablet, but for the price it's exactly what I needed and expected.

This Chromebook Made Me Love Chromebooks

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've been working in education my entire life, and have always focused on technology. I have mostly hated school Chromebooks. They're cheap, and they feel cheap. The kids and teachers don't want to use them because it's an unpleasant experience. I wanted a Chrombook for myself so I did the work to find what I needed.
This is the Chromebook schools need! 1. It has a little weight, and actually feels like a solid device. It does not feel like I'm going to break it by opening it and closing it. 2. The keyboard is right up there with most keyboards I like. They have just enough resistance as to not feel like the keys might pop off. 3. A backlit keyboard at this price is crazy! 4. Mine has the Intel chip, and that has to be a requirement for Chromebooks. I'm rarely waiting for anything. Chrome takes a lot of resources, and the right about of RAM and the Intel chip, makes it work SO well! 5. The touch screen works as it should, and the lid is not too wobbly when touching it. BTW: The lid doesn't wobbly when I type like other Chromebooks! 6. The privacy slider for the web cam is an appreciated addition. 7. The speakers are functional. They are great, but they also aren't offensive. 8. If I was going to complain about anything, it would be the very cheap feeling and sounding click of the touch pad. However, I usually just tap to click, so I don't hear it that often.
I really like this device. It's the first Chromebook, out of three I've owned, that I'll actually want to use. I wish schools would find this too!

It has everything my son needs for school even though he uses the Microsoft suite of software. I was worried about that since it is a Google Platform, but it works great.

So many issues where to begin

Chromebooks are great. This machine is garbage. Like tens-of-thousands of other owners, my machine experienced a cracked hinge. (Do a search for it, it's a known issue that Lenovo refuses to address.) Also, my fan won't stop spinning at full speed. Multiple powerwashes don't fix anything. It's the hardware that's broken.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Not seeing the heating issues that others complain about. If I had to complain a out anything, the battery life is a little on the short side (about 9 hours on a full charge?), but I've been using it at home so it hasn't been an issue. Great chromebook.

In fact the build quality is equal to $1000 windows laptops. If everything you do is cloud based through a browser look no further, plenty of power to run 25 plus tabs.
