Though this is not a long term usage review, it might be useful to some buyers. I have used the T490 laptop for about a couple of weeks now. Some of the things I want to highlight: Pros: - Performance wise it's quite fast - Strong built quality - Decent battery life - No strain on eyes - And many other good features which you could find easily on internet.
Though there is no specific turnoff for me, I want to mention that some features could have been better: - it could have been slightly lighter - Some people will take time to get used to the touchpad (combined with the buttons)
I have not checked any other aspect of the laptop, as I use it for official work only. Overall, I did not find any major flaw till now.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I configured a custom T490 for my son as he enters college this fall. He totally loves it. The laptop looks very stylish to him and he says it screams through apps and working on stuff. He is really excited to really start pounding on it once school starts in a few weeks.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I got a newer Thinkpad for work and enjoyed using it so much that I decided to get myself a Lenovo for personal use. I love everything except that the on/off button is on the side of the laptop instead of on top (like on my work one). The button is small and kind of awkward to turn on. That's my only gripe about it.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Everything is awesome on it except for the combination of all of the "high end" customizations and the texture of the plastic. Having the GPU high res screen just annihilates the battery far more than I was expecting so to anyone looking to buy the i7 can power the 2k screen just fine. You are looking at a battery of 1:05 with a gpu and 2k display with brightness turned down surfing the web. The exterior is even more of a fingerprint magnet than stainless steel. Everything else however is working flawlessly!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This Laptop spec meets my expectation. I purchased this laptop primarily for trading financial instruments on brokerage trading platforms. It handles the data load and processing well, even during peak trading times, without freezing or noticeable slow down.
However, I rated a FOUR because I had to uninstall and reinstall a number of drivers (e.g. the sound driver, external monitor drivers) to get them to work properly. Otherwise, no complaints.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Sleek lightweight with top performance. I use the laptop more as a desktop and it is amazing. No complaints at all. Great value for money.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I love the machine, is fast, love the keyboard and the touchscreen is a plus. I don’t miss my old Mac, but the fact that I can’t find a case is very annoying to me. It is hard to keep it clean and without fingers prints, I know it’s a esthetic and maybe irrelevant aspect, but still important for some costumers.
These are reliable business grade products. Compared to what you buy at box stores, this will last for years with readily available parts, unlike some consumer grade stuff.
