Fairly solid laptop, with several annoyances

I wasn't concerned about getting the slimmest or lightest laptop, but wanted something more durable. This T490 seems pretty solid.
However, within a couple weeks of ownership, I got the dreaded BSOD (Blue screen of death). It only happened once, and may have been a software issue resolved with an update, but still disconcerting. Also, the laptop is very slow to respond when waking up, or plugging in the AC adapter (screen goes black for a while).
I specifically wanted a backlit keyboard, but this one has zero functionality. There are no settings - when you turn it on, it stays on a short time, then turns off automatically. Other laptops allow the keys to light back up when you move the mouse. Here, you have to fish in the dark to turn the backlight back on. It would be so simple to add a little menu, that gives the user control over the backlit feature.
Finally, the battery is nowhere near the 19 hours claimed. On decent brightness level, less than 8 hours. And the Lenovo Rewards that you receive after purchase is limited in use; for example, you cannot use it to buy an extended warranty (which oddly is considered 'parts').
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
