[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have been planning on transitioning from my desktop workstation to something a bit more travel ready, I have looked at quite a few different options. I am blown away by this laptop! So far it has proven to be every bit as capable as my old tower and when coupled with the docking station, I can easily run my 2 monitors. This is a gem.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I upgraded from a 7 year old T430s that has a growing list of hardware issues. The packaging and installation of the T490 went smoothly. Several things in the new design disappoint me though. The front corners of the laptop are much sharper than the T430s. They jab into my wrists, especially when I reach for the right mouse button. I'm also annoyed by the cooling fan design, which is in the bottom, not the side and back of the laptop. My leg gets hot when using the machine and I just found the warning not to set it down on a sofa or other soft fabric. Of course, that's how I use it, so have to ignore that warning and hope for the best. Sharp corners and the fan placement are the issues I didn't expect. Well known was the lack of a SD slot - the mini-SD slot now needs an adapter to work with my camera's cards. The power cord is on the left side, rather than the back and the connection feels a bit flimsy, so hope that lasts. The hinge is strong and the touch screen is great. I was worried about how much I'd use the touch screen, but find it very useful for scrolling and especially when browsing. The fingerprint reader works fine. The camera lens cover is very hard to move - like I think I'll break it if I use it more than a few times. The think-button (or what ever we call that red mouse nub) is why I bought a ThinkPad. So far, using it seems a bit less smooth than I'm used to, but I'll probably get used to it. The keyboard touch is fine (except for the corner jabs to my wrist).
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I am so happy with my recent purchase of the Lenovo Thinkpad T490. I travel internationally for work and need a durable and reliable laptop to do my job, including presentations. The Thinkpad fits the bill and also is great for personal use when I want to watch movies or SKYPE with family back home. Overall, it's a great laptop that suits all my needs!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Bought this laptop because I needed a compact laptop for school, specially for programming and stuff like that. Really like that it has a rj45 port ja hdmi port which many laptops omit but I like to have them because I use them often. It also has a smart card reader which is really useful for college student because in lots of websites you are needed to login with smart card. It is also super lightweight, has a good screen and a fingerprint reader for extra security. Backlight keyboard is also useful for latenight studies. Really happy with the product.
