Great improvement over 350

I have owned a Scooba 350/399 since that model came out. Our kitchen is the main entrance to the house and we keep chickens and garden, so are constantly tracking in mud. Scooba has been invaluable, but the 350 had issues, particularly maintenance. The 450 is a marked improvement in design and functionality. It stands on its side, so takes less space while charging. The new rollers are MUCH easier to clean. The tank can be cleaned much more effectively, which was a major issue with the 350. Most importantly, the 350 ports used to get clogged with all sorts of muck and were difficult to clean effectively. If you let it sit, compacted material could block water flow. The 450 has a shorter passage and can be cleaned easily. The new screen is also MUCH easier to keep clean. I like the more informative information on errors and progress. The 450 scoots much faster around the floor and the new brushes and squeegies seem to clean more effectively. The height also works better with my cabinets. The 350 would catch under cabinets - I had to put thin pieces of wood under them so it would run without supervision. This works better. The new lighthouses also communicate with my roomba, so I don't need to have two different sets of lighthouses to keep roomba in and scooba out of my kitchen. I love the Scooba. When I bought my first one, I had doubts that it could clean effectively. I was very pleasantly surprised. What you have to know about all robot cleaners is that they make up with time what they lack in efficiency. They don't clean like you do. They do a fast pick up. They lay down water and let it soak to take up the dirt more easily. Then they do more of a scrub and squeegie. I set it to run when I go to bed and smile every morning when I walk into a clean kitchen. Once a month I go in and do odd corners it can't reach with a sponge. The rest of the time I spend less than 5 minutes a day with scooba and get great floors.
Pros: Cleans Effectively, Easy To Use, Hassle Free Operation, Long Run Time
Cons: Can get caught under cabinets

Soak feature allows water to evaporte before it is sucked up

The Scooba 390 was perfect. The 450's soak function reduced the effectiveness of the Scooba dramatically. At least that is what I believe causes there to be very little water in the dirty tank. It appears that when it lays down water to "soak", most of the water evaporates before it gets back around to vacuum it up. So all it is doing is adding soap to the dirt on the floor, if you are using soap. If not, it is simply laying water down on top of your dust and debris. I am extremely hopeful that the next version upgrade will not have this soak function. If you've experienced the same thing, please voice your opinion so we can get that taken off of the next Scooba!
Cons: Soak feature allows water to evaporate too soon

Poor quality, leaves water, incessant warnings

I would not recommend buying the Scooba. One of my main reasons for purchasing the Scooba was to save time; unfortunately, it does not save me very much time. I have had to set it up (5 min.), go to its rescue because it became lodged under furniture and cabinets (5 min.), correct the errors saying it was stuck on a perfectly flat surface (2 min.), and clean it (5 min. - while listening to it repeatedly tell me to turn it upright - I turn it upside-down to take off the brush attachment and clean it). On average I spend 10-20 minutes to clean one 300 square foot room. I can clean that size room by hand in that amount of time. Considering I have to do this several times because of the size of my house, it becomes quite annoying. Also, my Scooba lasted about a year and a half which is not impressive considering the cost. The thing is annoying too; there are constant warnings and beeping. It becomes clogged constantly, and I have to clean the screen which doesn't appear to have any debris on it, but after it is cleaned, it works again. This machine is too much trouble.
Cons: Clogs Easily, Gets stuck, Hassle to Operate, Misses Spots

Not as good as before

This is my fifth iRobot in all and my second scuba; I was hopeful that this would be amazing, given it does both sweeping and scrubbing I was sure I found my hard floor zen, since I now wouldn't have to run my sweeper then my scrubber, streamlining here I come. Sadly I was wrong, my floor never gets clean now. I have a large floor around 1400 on the first floor that I expect it to clean, if you have a small room then this may work for you. However for my home it never is able to clean the whole floor before running out of batteries. It doesn't even use all the water in the cleaning tank before its battery life is depleted. What is worse is that the areas that it does manage to clean are not getting fully clean, there tends to be water spots and a residue left, and in case your wondering I only use the provided cleaner. The other down side is cleaning the machine afterwards. The rep really sold me when he said it was easier to clean but after having one I simply disagree, it is nasty (really nasty) to clean out the water and the dirt at the same time (the dry material from sweeping and the dirty water from scrubbing all go into the same tank) I feel like I never fully get the dirty tank clean and am always dealing with getting the hair and gunk out of the sink when I clean it, very unhappy with this aspect, I would rather clean the floor than deal with cleaning the tank. I wish they had the old scuba, it was a bit unreliable in comparison to all the awesome robots I have had but at least when it did work it really cleaned the floor. On a positive note, I have an iRobot that took a bullet, and still worked for another 3 years like a champ, I still love you guys, just not your scrubbers yet, hoping the next one will be better suited for large rooms and just be scrubber not a sweeper scrubber combo, or have separate tanks if it is a combo.
Cons: Difficult To Clean, Misses Spots, Noisy

This machine seems confused. misses sections.Bad navigation

This machine sometimes does not finish the job. I just watched it lay down fluid on my kitchen hardwood floor, over and over without ever doing the the very important squeegee and vacuum part. Scooba left the water on the floor and announced it was done. Plenty of remaining battery charge, small room, no excuse...Sometimes it does all the cycles, but on a large room it leaves water to evaporate before it gets to the cleaning cycles.
Pros: Does not complete the job
Cons: Long Charge Time, Misses Spots, Noisy, cannot navigate

Not as awesome as the Roomba, but still pretty cool.

I LOVE the Roomba, so obviously I was very excited to add the Scoomba to my work force at the house. It works great for small rooms ie: bathroom, kitchen, hallway. In large rooms however, it doesn't seem to clean as well. By the time it gets back to scrub and vaccum where it dropped water/cleaner, the solution is already dry. You have to divide up a large room in order for it to be effective. Also, the virtual walls that work with the Roomba DO NOT work for the Scoomba, so you have to buy a whole new set of virtual walls to keep the Scoomba where you want to clean. Other than that, it does a pretty good job of cleaning.
Pros: Easy To Use
Cons: Long Charge Time, Misses Spots, Noisy
