Worth the Investment

Was so excited at the announcement of the new Scooba. Had read all the issues on the old one. Have about 1000 sq.ft. of tile flr. Used the virtual walls from my Roomba (great plus) and sectioned the areas off as suggested. It works so good. The squeegee does not work perfect on the tile flr but I am not sure you will get one that will. I am very satisfied with the performance. You cannot stop it in the middle of a cycle. Once I realized this then I got better results from ERMA. I washed all the tile. Some areas have been washed several times. This is a great use after dinner to wash in front of stove and sink. So highly recommend this. Makes the off-white tile actually likeable now. Worth the "investment".
Pros: Cleans well, Like The 2 Sizes Of Rooms, Quick 20 Minute Cycle, Wrks Wroomba Virtal Wall
Cons: Doesn't Dry Tile Complete

GREAT IMPROVEMENT

I really like all of the new improvements. I like that it is the same rounded size as the roomba, easier to clean the brushes etc. Easier to fill, and sturdier handle. I live alone and this new scooba does a great job of keeping all of my floors spotless. Glad to see they've changed the cleaning fluid. I highly recommend this new and improved model
Pros: Cleans Much Better Than T, Really Leaves Floor Dry
Cons: NONE

Better at cleaning small rooms , i clean a large area and by the time it has to pick up the liquid the floor has already dried.. I have about 800 sq. ft. Of vinyl flooring, I do 400 sq. ft. At a time and it works great. Due to health problems I can not wash floors this is a very helpful friend I love the irobot company, they have been so helpful with their customer service.
Pros: Easy To Use, Hassle Free Operation
Cons: Noisy

Disappointed with Scooba 450
on April 5, 2014

Just purchased the Roomba 880, Scooba 450, & Braava 380t. Here is my take: The Scooba 450. It doesn't do well with dog hair and is a real mess to clean. The dog hair also seems to prevent it from suctioning the dirty water back up. Don't even bother to purchase this if you have pet hair. Forget using the large room feature on it. Since it does things in stages, by the time it gets to the suctioning of dirty water, the floor is already dry. If you set it to small room and do small areas at a time using the 20 minute scrub, it does seem to do a passable job. But who has time to do small areas at a time (and only holds a charge to do two small areas)? Very disappointed with the Scooba 450. Maybe a better idea for iRobot would be to have two machines - one dedicated to floor scrubbing a small area using actual scrubbing brushes instead of just the usual vacuum brush) and the other to just suction the dirty water after scrubbing? That should enable both machines to have an hour run time each - enough to do three small sections before having to recharge. The Roomba 880 is fantastic - a huge improvement over past models I used! It keeps a charge so much longer and is easier to empty. I did find the filter seems to get dirty very fast with all of the pet hair. Since they send a spare filter, I just clean the dirty one the best I can and even spray it with hot water and let dry. I just ordered another Roomba 880 so that I can have two going at the same time (big house). Love the return to dock feature. The Braava 380t is another great little machine! Make sure to order spare microfiber cloths. I just use mine with water and am amazed at the job it does. It also holds a charge for a long period of time. It does a nice job on my travertine floors and is fantastic on my wood floors. Don't get me wrong - this is not an intensive cleaning job, but if you use it frequently, you won't need to spend time manually cleaning floors very often. I just ordered two more Braava 380ts. Make sure to use the Roomba to get as much dirt and hair up before using the Braava - after all, one microfiber cloth can only hold so much dirt. Depending on your situation, you will probably need to order additional Virtual Walls.

So many problems :(

I used to have a Scooba 300 series and I loved it. I used it for almost a year until it stopped working. So I traded up for the 400. I wish I could go and buy the same one I had before because of all the problems. Right out of the box it doesn't dispense enough water and after a couple uses one of the tread on the wheels starts coming off. I sent a request for help on the dispensing of water and I recieved a lovely answer about how it was my fault for not using the proper solution. I was using the irobot solution and water. It's always nice when they blame you off the bat before checking on any facts. I then was asked a bunch of random questions that had nothing to do with the dispensing of water (How exactly does room size matter in water dispensing?). I'm still working to try and fix the problem, but honestly i feel I'm going to have to return this and try again or wait until the next series where they fix these little problems. And I'm very bummed considering I LOVED my old scooba. I kind of feel that they went overboard with the tech extras. I don't need a voice telling me that you are stuck (when you aren't). I just need a basic scooba that cleans until it's done.
Pros: Easy Cleaning
Cons: Clogs Easily, Long Charge Time, Lower Quality, Shorter Run Time

Not worth the money

Compared to the old Scooba, it has a much shorter battery life. New, this one will only clean half of the space as my old Scooba-what is the battery going to be like after usage? My virtual wall only works occasionally- you never know when it will let the Scooba escape into another room. I have multiple IRobot products-loved them all. This one -not so much! It is very expensive and just not worth the money!
Pros: Faster Than Old Scooba, Quieter Than Old Scooba
Cons: Cleaning Solution To Buy, Poor Battery Life, Virtual Wall Doesnt Work

Fundamentally flawed

The Scooba 450 could be a good floor cleaner, and it has indeed cleaned my floors spotlessly on several occasions, however its design is fundamentally flawed. Unlike previous models, iRobot opted for a 3-pass cycle where the robot cleans the room, then washes and finally squeegees dry - in contrast to previous models where all of this was accomplished in a single pass. This causes two problems: 1. If you live in a hot, dry climate, much of the water will have already evaporated by the time the robot comes around to dry the floor. I bought the Scooba in the winter and my opinion of it was better until summer came around. I try to combat this by running it early in the morning or late at night. 2. Whether or not the Scooba cleans your floor well is entirely down to random chance. This is because it is designed to bounce off objects in the hope that it will eventually cover the entire room, which means that the robot has no idea where it has been and frequently neglects to dry areas that it has washed, leaving the dirty water to dry. I have a dark floor with skylights, meaning that any dirt or marks on the floor are highly visible, and often after running the Scooba the floor actually looks dirtier than when I started. The only way to get around this is to make it wash the floor over and over again (after a full charge each time of course) in the hope that the random nature of the algorithm eventually covers the entire floor. I would imagine the Scooba works brilliantly in an empty room situated in a cool, humid climate, but I would definitely not advise it in a dry climate or any moderately complex room. I really wanted to like the Scooba because the idea of having a hard floor cleaning robot that doesn't require pads is extremely appealing. If iRobot can release a new version with a 1-pass cycle I would happily give it 5 stars, with bonuses if they can make it quieter, have longer battery life and make it more intelligently navigate a room.
Pros: Doesn't require pads, Easy To Use
Cons: Gets Stuck Easily, Long Charge Time, Misses Spots, Noisy
