That this printer is the second HP printer we have purchased that crashes weeks after the warranty ends and HP offers NO REPAIR.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I had to buy a new one because the toner was leaking and leaving ink on everything

It's awful that the cartridge leaked on you. Avoid using this cartridge and ask for a return immediately. I would also assess your opening technique. Sometimes, consumers remove the tabs off the toners. This action creates a leak from the cartridge. Again, I apologize for this incident. I hope it never occurs again.
I have tried generic toner several times and have always been disappointed. If you print photos, the colors are never right. Also, I have experienced toner leakage that ruins my documents and damages my printer, I have learned my lesson and will never buy store brand or generic brands again.
