Very happy with purchase

This product provides copious amount of relief every morning knowing my aging mother woke up in the morning. Independence is very important to my mother, so calling her every morning she became frustrated with me. This product does not make my mother concerned with others “watching her” yet it gives me some comfort that she is not lying on the floor. At first , 5 minutes shut off was a little too short of an interval, with an electric stove but found 10 minutes resulted in a couple burnt pans. The interval was changed very easily.

We wanted to find something to add some more safety to our 90 year old mother after losing our Father suddenly. Our mother wanted to stay at home an be more independent, but being 90 has left a few issues with short term memory. She is still very capable but we were unsure about here memory. Well we decided to give IguardFire a try for her independence and let me tell you we are all grateful we did. This thing is amazing, it took me about 15 minutes to set up and we have been sleeping better ever since.
It has so many features I use daily, it shows more than just if the stove is on, as it monitors her activity in the kitchen, the ambient temp, if alarms have been set off all in real time with text message alerts. Who ever invented this should get a medal! It seems a little pricey, but for the piece of mind it delivers to our whole family it is a small price to pay.
I can override the oven and stove any time I feel the need, it has child locks, you name it I can do it. It shows each day in a calendar form exactly what has transpired on any given day. So I can monitor trends. I know when she is cooking and how long each session is. It has taken a load off my mind. It also shows if there has been no activity in a grace period and sends me an alert. Also shows first activity of every day. This is great for knowing Mom is awake and doing her thing.
If you would like an added piece of mind, and a valuable safety item, trust me this is one you will find well worth it.
We did however get the black version of this item but that is the only difference.

I almost never write reviews, but because I believe in this product so much, here goes.
I installed the electric stove version in my elderly mothers home several months ago and love it. And I highly recommend it if you are at all concerned about a loved one who may be living on their own and/or of high risk.
Not only does it turn the stove off (and notifies me) when she forgets (which I have discovered does occasionally occur) but
It notifies me:
- When my mother is first up and about for the day (my absolute favorite alert).
- When she turns on the stove (so I know when
she is eating)
- When her internet connection is down (signifying either an internet problem or a power outage).
- While it hasn't been necessary (yet), the ambient temperature sensing could one day be a life saver.

The unit looks good, and is very easy to set up and get working.
And, probably most importantly, the customer service is top notch. Prompt and very responsive to both phone calls and emails.

The unit isn't cheap, but it's a whole lot less expensive than putting my mother in a care facility. Besides, what price can I put on allowing her to have her independence for even a few months longer?

The best device and service out there

Looking for a device for my Mom's safety, living alone and maybe forgetting to turn off her stove. I purchased the iguard stove after looking at several other brands and reading reviews. Some hooked up to smoke detectors, or others would trip your breaker (new beaker over time and an electrician would cost a lot) and the closest brand was all manual with no wifi at the same price. This unit is the best, connected to your home's wifi and installs very quickly and easily. I can monitor from my phone or computer and access free anytime. Gives me motion updates in the kitchen, house temperature, stove turned on and off and many other features. I can update many settings online which is amazing. If you want texts to your phone you will have to pay the $24/year however that is a great feature to know when mom turns on the stove or forgets to turn it off, I got this feature and feel better knowing to get real time info. This is the best device out there in my opinion; I highly recommend it. It's been installed just over a week, and it is amazing! $700 is expensive however the peace of mind and information to help Mom continuing to live alone is well worth it. Cheaper than a life lost, or insurance deductible and all the hassle to fix a kitchen or home. I spoke to the Canadian rep and his service is EXCELLENT, always there to help.
I would recommend this to a friend!
