X1 excellence as always, great for getting it done

A laptop great for getting work done. Works reasonably well in Linux (except for some audio issues). Better speakers than the X1C6.
In all other ways, it's the same laptop you've seen before in the X1 series: lightweight, a good selection of ports, quality input devices and durable build.
Some areas that could be improved include battery life (this one won't get you through a full work day), and the keyboard/touchpad don't have as much feedback relative to the 6th generation models. To better enable graphics-intensive applications, Lenovo should consider offering an option with Intel's higher end Iris graphics range.
Portable and light this machine is designed for traveling. While I enjoyed using the X1 Carbon Gen 7, I will be switching to the P series for better performance.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Good quality, light weight high-end machine. I frankly was not going to buy a Windows based machine and instead stay within the Mac world, but I am opening a financial planning practice operating out of my home and I am utterly frustrated with the new minimalist approach that Mac laptops take to ports, not to mention that the finance world is largely dominated by the Windows environment. I ran the purchase by a friend who is very much into the "tech world" and he was very supportive of this purchase. I've used Windows based machines while I was employed so I'm not entirely unfamiliar with the OS but it does take some getting used to. I hesitate to give it 5 stars at this point simply because I haven't used it enough to find out how some things work, but so far I don't see any limitations. If you are looking for a lightweight high quality Windows laptop, I would have no difficulty recommending this Lenovo to a friend.
This is my 3rd ThinkPad over the last 10 years. I opted to not option the 4k screen to give more battery life. It's also not necessary if you're just working with email, crunching data or other word processing.
This is a very good device. Good for students and businesses but one should know this is not a touch screen device so writing and taking notes is not possible.
The Matt black scratches very easily both on the track pad and on the frame. Also, the computer stalls frequently if you are doing programming on it, which was very unexpected given the specs.
The small and light form factor is great though.
I would recommend this to a friend!
