Overall I am satisfied with this unit as it fills our current needs and we were able to have it delivered in a reasonable time. I took off one star because there is no light in the freezer compartment. After researching this I found this feature is missing on many of the more basic models.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Had only a few weeks but does the job well

Wonderful to have a working refrigerator again.
Wonderful to have a working refrigerator again. There are a few things I would change however: glass shelf in freezer, shelves in refrigerator coming out further to utilize the space better (don't need as much room on door shelves)--this has been remarked upon previously, light in freezer, top shelf in fridge is not quite tall enough and not rung is too much--need something in between. It's very quiet. Was surprised at textured surface (not a bad thing, just was never disclosed). Can't really say how well this will work or last since I just recently (December) received.

Lots of room

I love the fact that there is so much more room than in my previous side-by-side model. Temperature controls are a little wonky. The factory recommended setting does not meet its standard of 37° in the fridge and 0° in the freezer. I have it turned to max (5) and the items towards the front are now at 39° in the fridge but items towards the back tend to freeze, especially fruit.

Shelf configuration could be better

The new refrigerator is nice, however the interior shelving configuration could use some improvement. Our last one was the same basic fridge but with better interior configuration and therefore held a lot more items as one time.

Making Noise within 2 Months

I have had this fridge less than 6 months time, and it is is already in need of service. During some cycles (I assume defrost) it is making loud buzzing noises intermittently. The capacity is nice, but I couldn't recommend it because ours is a lemon

Not as good as the last model.

We had the last model GE fridge for about fifteen years, loved it. It looked pretty much like this one, stainless, black & big. It had a light in the freezer, nice, this one doesn't. It had a can holder that held a twelve pack out of the way of everything else, nice, this one doesn't. This one has a giant bin on the door that is right above a smaller bin making it hard to see what is in the the bottom bin and even harder to get things out of the bottom bin. This one is very noisy , sounds like a cheap microwave oven, but it is what it is, and it's not what the older model was. TOO BAD.
