Why is there a gap

Why is there a gap in the bottom of the bag when you use the compartments. I have to use the sunglasses case to fill in the gap so the bag sits flat.

I love it, the only thing I do not like, is I feel like the sunglasses case severely abstructs the pockets in the two removable modules. I almost cannot use them. I had to take out the key leash and move the case to that pocket just to use the two pockets on the other side.

I have pretty much every bag / accessory that these guys make and everything is fantastic quality. I've never found a bag with better quality than these that's also packed with so many amazing features.
This review is only a 4-star simply because I don't have the option to give 1/2 stars (it should really be a 4.5). My biggest wish is that it had the quad zips on the main compartment like the backpacks so I could more easily just unzip the bottom side for my keys in the side compartment. Overall this is a great option because it includes the side bottle pockets and stands upright on it's own, but I've found that the center compartment overall doesn't hold too much more than the Nomatic laptop case. I expected to be able to fit more items in this case as it has a whole additional center compartment, but found that I could basically fit the same amount of stuff in both. The two panel options on this are okay, but a bit awkward. I never use the folder / tech option since the other compartments of the bag offer plenty of these types of pockets. The 'organizer' compartment has been my option of choice as it provides some organization rather than just throwing everything in there, but i wind up using one whole third of it for the glasses case that no longer fits in the side pocket when this panel is attached.
Overall, the quality / construction of this bag is outstanding. It's my daily work bag, and it still outshines anything else I've seen out there. I just think some of the design options are a bit weird which is not something I typically find / expect in a Nomatic product.

Love the Messenger Bag! I have used other brands before but this one is light, comfortable, and is designed with the perfect spot for all essentials! I especially appreciate the felt-lined pocket for my cell phone at the top, and the sleeves for both my laptop and tablet.
