would be 4 stars, but laptop zipper is very difficult to operate which is frustrating. this is the only issue i have found with the bag. it is awesome outside of this one zipper issue...

Exceeds expectations. High quality material

Exceeds expectations. High quality material and construction. I went back and forth between this, the 20L travel pack and the laptop pack, very happy with this choice, I tend to carry 3-4 notebooks at any given time and this allows me to haul my work laptop, all cords, and xtra battery and my notebooks easily. Great job Nomatic!

After a hands-on look at

After a hands-on look at this bag, I see some critical design issues:
1) The handle is unusable. I do not have large hands, but I cannot get my fingers under this handle. I cannot find a carrying position where my pinkie does not immediately go numb. It is also flat, not round, so it is very uncomfortable in the hand.
2) The "compartments panel" creates a 2" tall void of unusable space across the entire bottom of the bag and provides no mesh pockets. The "organizer panel" has mesh pockets, but is so thin that the entire inside area of the bag goes unused. Why not offer a panel with deep compartments AND mesh pockets?
3) The included glasses container cannot be used with EITHER panel installed.Also, it would be nice if there was room to hold two pair - prescription and sunglasses.
4) There is not a single pocket in this bag suitable for a laptop power supply. Power supplies are heavy, so lightweight mesh tends to stretch out or rip. That also means they tend to fall out of pockets unless they are zippered. This would seem to be a key requirement in a laptop bag.
There are a handful of things I like about this bag, but, in my opinion, they really missed the basics, making this bag unusable for me.

Really do love this bag.

Really do love this bag. It’s actually difficult to explain, but the pockets are exactly where they need to be. I travel a lot, so my office is effectively mobile and this bag has somehow put everything at my finger tips with no wasted space. I don’t do reviews often, and in a way it kind of makes me sad that I’ve come to a point in my life that a good bag excites me, but this really has been a great find. For the record, my first Nomatic bag was the carry-on suit case and I love that almost as much. Rolling a bag around Manhattan always kind of grossed me out, so I love the backpack design on that bag very much. Walking through the airport, I’m a regular Nomatic billboard.
