Lemon of a fridge

I left a review a year ago stating how it keeps breaking and the fridge and freezer lose their ability to maintain temperature. Guess what?? It’s still happening!!! The repair tech gave me his personal cell phone number because I call so frequently. His idea of fixing was that I should defrost the whole fridge for a few hours and then turn it back on. Sometimes that works, sometimes it doesn’t…either way, does that sound like something you want to be doing every two weeks? This is the most expensive item in my house and it’s a piece of garbage.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

We purchased this refrigerator 5 years ago. It has been problematic since we got it. Service companies have come and gone, replaced parts and given advice, but the main problem remains. This unit will randomly stop cooling for a while, then after a day or 2 will start working again. This is not how a functional appliance is supposed to work. Never mind the incredibly loud buzzing noise, that was fixed (sort of). Refrigerators 20 or 30 years old, or newer designs that can be had for 1/10 the price of this one simply keep working. This lemon has serious design flaws that guarantee poor performance and short service life. Take the money and buy a nice used car, it will last a lot longer. If you must purchase this product, don’t even think about skipping the extended warranty.

At the high price this refrigerator commands it's inexcusable that it doesn't have current temp displays right on the door panel or at least on the app

We want to provide information about the temperature settings and controls on your refrigerator. Refrigerators with electronic or LCD display controls, like this one, show the set temperature selected for the refrigerator and freezer, not the actual temperature inside the refrigerator. To check the internal temperature, we recommend using a bulb-type or candy thermometer directly into a container of food or liquid that has been in the refrigerator or freezer compartment for at least 24 hours. BEWARE newer models have different shelving option

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Thankful the replacement refrigerator fit perfectly into the cabinet that the old refrigerator was built around. The LOSS of the butter dish shelf with an easy open/close is the reason for a 4 rating instead of 5. Granted adjustable shelves are adequate, but I want the door option for holding my butter dish. Also, there are NO options to purchase a door shelf like my previous refrigerator. Errrr not happy, but adjusting.

DO NOT BUY! RFID reader fails, cosing you hundreds

GE puts RFID readers in their fridge to stop people from using counterfeit water filters.
And when this RFID reader fails, it stops you from using genuine GE water filters.
This means you can't use YOUR fridge which you paid for to dispense WATER or ICE unless you pay them hundreds of dollars.
