Broken Ice Maker, Warped Hardwood Floors

Our new GE Cafe 42inch built-in fridge was installed in late August. 3 weeks ago the ice maker stopped working. We scheduled a service appointment through GE and the soonest someone could come out was a week later. The tech didn’t show. So we scheduled again and the soonest someone could come out was another week later. During this time, we noticed the new hardwood flooring around our fridge had started warping. We put a moisture reader on them and sure enough, soaking wet. The fridge is leaking. To make matters worse, we can’t shut off the water to it because it’s built into the cabinets and the valve is in the wall behind the fridge. GE sent a single tech out today who said he can’t do anything - this requires a 3-4 person crew. HOW did GE not know this since it requires a serial # to schedule service?? So now we’re waiting ANOTHER week for someone to come out. AND to make matters worse, they say our fridge is no longer under warranty. A fridge that was bought in March, took 5 months to arrive, and was installed 4 months ago. That’s just absurd. I’ve always been a huge fan of GE appliances - have purchased a range, washer, dryer, this fridge, and more, but after this experience, I’m not sure I will again.

Disappointed....

This new refrigerator was delivered and installed on 7/20/20. The fridge section is only at 50 degrees Farenheit even though it's set at 36. Freezer section is fine and maintaining 0 degrees. The fridge section not maintaining the set temperature started happening about 3 weeks ago. Promptly called GE to schedule a technician and earliest available appointment was a week out. When the tech arrive, he could find nothing wrong with the system. He talked to GE Service Center and wound up ordering a new main board and door switches in the hopes of resolving the issues. Board and switches are scheduled to arrive 11/19. Good thing we have an old Monogram in the garage that keeps plugging along. We're going to end up waiting over 2 months to see if the first fix corrects the problem. Very disappointed in this new Cafe Refrigerator.

Same Old Refrigerator

I had a 20 year old Profile version of this Refrigerator. This new one is basically the same one will led lights, different ice maker, auto water fill, water filter and network connection. They removed the butter dish (not sure why.) It is not very energy efficient. I can't get ice to dispense without some landing on the floor. I see no real use for the network connection, the functionality could easily be replace with a few indicators on the front. But I guess that's why, it is easer to bolt on the network app than update the old design. I seem to be suckered into this Refrigerator because the handle matches my new oven.

Great built in and value compare to others

I think it is the best value in the market for built in the only reason it is not 5 stars due to the ice maker being in the louder side. Not to the point that bother me, but we you get close to the fridge you can hear it running.

We purchased this model in July 2020. In feb. 2021 the frezzer started making a loud banging noice and was not keeping things frozen so a replait guy came and had to replace the whole freezer! Now (Nov. 9, 2022) the ice maker no longer makes ice! We tried all of the troubleshooting to no avail! Another service guy is coming in a few days and we are no longer covered under our warranty. We paid 9K for this piece of CRAP as our old Monogram finally conked out after 15 years and it's a built in so we needed a 42" built in and there were only two choices.-Should have paid a little more and gotten the Sub-Zero! PLUS you have to PAY EXTRA FOR THE HANDLES ON THE DOORS!!!! It doesn't come with the refrigerator!

I previously had a GE Monogram and replaced it after 19 years with the Cafe'. It is extremely noisy and the water dispenser is slow, ounce reader is incorrect and the ice jams often spilling into the freezer.

Cheap quality at an expensive price

Read the negative reviews on this fridge here and other sites. Take the negative reviews seriously. Buy something else. I purchased mine in January of 2024. They put a nice shiny box around a bunch of cheap parts. only a 1 year warranty is a red flag. I have had a service tech come out 3 times already. Now they have agreed to replace it but won't have one available until late July. For an 11k fridge, you would not think it'd be breaking down like this. They offered a lower quality option that is available with no compensation for the price difference. It's a shame GE appliances have gone downhill.

ice machine makes a high pitch small engine noise

I purchased this months ago and received it sept 26 due to covid, no fault of anyone it took so long. Ice maker is annoying and loud high pitch humming noice like a small engine changing gears. I can not get through to anyone to help. I thought I could get someone to come out and check the ice maker but they are transferring me around and so far Cafe said someone would call me and that has not happened it has been a week
