Great product but failed solder joint killed it.

The way the collar light is designed pressing it on and off stressed the connector of + side of battery to the circuit board to the point of the solder breaking loose and it causing it to fail. The problem could be eliminated by having the battery contacts come up through the PCB instead of wrapping over the top.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I like these. They're clever little gizmos that shed a nice bright light. I clip one to my dog's harness and light it up when we're out at night, so I can keep track of her when she's off-leash and cyclists and motorists can see her when we're walking. The downside is that they don't last forever--they're just a little too fragile for all the jostling they get from being attached to a lively dog. So the current purchases are #3 and #4. #1 just went dead after a few months (yes, I put new batteries in it but it still won't light) and #2 will still light up after about a year of use, but it switches itself off after a few seconds. Still, they're inexpensive enough that it was worth getting new ones. I haven't found anything better for putting a light on my dog!

Had it for a month then died

I had it for month and while it worked it was great, then on the second attempt to recharge, it just won't turn on.

We have purchased no less than 8 of these rechargeable dog lights. We love them as we “free run” our dogs at night in a national forest and can see them quite a distance away.

It provides a lot of light without hurting our eyes as we walk our dog in the dark. Very reliable and nice to know it’s rechargable. Our dog is 65 lbs and he looks like the pictured dog. A similar version in a smaller size would be right for a 20 lb dog.

I bought this two month ago, used it every night to let my dog out to potty. I was really happy with it until I went to charge it. I recharged it for an hour, the battery just dead, cannot turn it on anymore without the charging cable plugged in.. I tried charging it again for longer time, doesn’t help at all. I pretty much spend 20 dollar to buy a one time thing. Not recommend at all

Short lifetime

Have had ours less than three weeks. Great idea and we keep it attached to the leash. Here’s the problem: you have to turn it off and on. And no matter how long the LED lasts, if the on/off switch wears out quickly you won’t have a working light for long. Sadly, this has been our experience. A-plus for the engineer with the design idea. D-minus for the procurement guy who supplied the switches. Do not buy.
