The crane works well! I do find there is a clicking noise when you extend the boom, but it still is awesome! I switched the small gear with the large gear for the boom up/down just to make it a bit easier. I found the string does change directions and needs to be be pulled to reset, but I still love it!

So much fun for a great value

My son is 5 y/o and he received this as a birthday gift. He is a LEGO monster and he loved the set. It is so much fun to build and geniously designed.
By the way, I think there is a typo in the instructions on page 216 at step 356. The blue piece should have been 2x but there it says 1x.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Awesome Crane, But

This crane is amazing. My wife and myself put this together and it was a blast. Tons of really cool details. The amount of moving parts was really amazing. The thing is I was shocked at how well all the actions worked.
My only issue. If you attach the Lego beam to the crane hook to be lifted. Then extend the boom to it's max while at a 45 degree in the air and try to pick the provided beam up while the boom is to the side the crane will FLIP. My issue with this is, it should have been designed to pick up the object it was sent with in any position with out flipping over. Something simple like a small counter weight or larger feet would have solved this. That part is a real miss by the design team.
Now all that said, you should 100% buy this and build it!

My 11-year-old son received this crane for his birthday. He loves it! It wasn't too difficult and he was able to assemble everything without any help. This set has definitely become one of his favorites!

I would not consider this build difficult, but pretty easy. With that being said, it certainly was enjoyable and my daughter loves it. It always amazes me the attention to detail Lego places in the design and build. Highly recommend!

It's such a cleverly designed set. It caught my eye more than anything else in the store, I couldn't leave without it. And it's even more impressive having it in front of me.

First Technic Set

This was the first technic set I had ever built and purchased. It was a fun and interesting build and has neat features, the quad steering is neat and kind of complex with the multi geared axle running through the chassis.
I would recommend this to a friend!

A must build

This set is a must have, it is a great value for being a Technic build. The piece to price ratio makes it worth buying alone. One reason I got back into Lego last year was because of our kids and the fact that Lego is a great way for them to explore their creativity and use their imagination. This set is challenging and fun and makes a great display alone or with other sets. More than likely I will purchase another one simply to add the pieces to our tote at home that we use for our own builds.
