Great kit!!

I was totally surprised and excited to finally get a seagoing technic set. Combined with some ingenuity and the proper parts this set x2 yielded a great though somewhat sluggish pond patroller. By itself with the bluetooth batmobile I had a really fun relatively quick differential steering catamaran. Lego dudes, please make me a bigger boat prop!!! Add it to a new series of technic speedboats if you have to. Great summertime fun!! I highly recommend this kit!

Ridiculously Fun!

I bought this on a whim. Not really a fan of boats or sailing, but I wanted a new technic set so I took the plunge. This set was way more fun to build than I expected, and way larger than I expected! It stands about 12” tall, and it can go taller with the adjustable fins that go through the bottom of each hull. My LEGO collection is mostly cars and Star Wars, so this will definitely stand out, but it’s really cool to look at. You should definitely buy this set!

Catamaran

Nice quality as always from Lego. Colors and appearance are impressive. The steering, sail, & keel depth adjustments work really nicely - well thought out. The kit was a bit tricky to build and i think the ages are a bit off - ages 8 and up? More like 12-14 and up, as I think many 8-10 year- olds would struggle with all the tiny pieces and some of the directions. Touch to display with the keels, should have come with a basic stand perhaps. Cool that it floats!

FINALLY an accurate sailboat model!
on January 14, 2020

As a sailor and a Lego fan, I am super impressed with this model, especially when compared to the previous attempts at sailboats. First, the floating aspect is awesome. Finally it gives us a REAL hulls that floats! The amas are actually very modern, cutting edge even. Reverse plumb bow is amazing. Mast and sails are much more in ratio to real boats. The mechanics are really novel with adjustable centerboard heights and individual sail trim. I suspect the designer is the same as with previous sailboats and finally got to build what s/he wanted. The best part for me, and worst for some, is that it is designed to be FLOATED and not displayed. I can see a ton of new MOCs coming from the new pieces introduced in this set. It is not an advanced set but it is a great representation of what a modern racing catamaran would look like. I plan to try to do some fun rebuilds that were not possible until this set. How about a HARD sail for that boat. Lego lends itself to hard sails very nicely

Exactly, love the positivity! It's the first time we've introduced a Technic™ boat that floats on water. Awesome, right? We can't wait to see our fans get creative and build MOCs with the newly introduced pieces. Thank you for your review and we wish you happy sailing!

Great set, is the right amount of challenge that you would expect from a technical set like this.

This is fun

I bought this at the store, came home and built it in 4 hours. There were a few extra parts and lost one (but found it later!). The build was challenging and the effort was rewarding for this old salt. I was pleasantly surprised with all the move surfaces.
I did disassemble it and bagged the parts, and reboxed the kit. :( But I am looking into doing a modification on it so it can be sailed on a pool or small pond.

Floated the first time but sank second
on July 5, 2020

The build was challenging. It’s not really made for 8 and up. The finishing model was nice. The first time I put it in the water the boat floated, but the second time it floated for 30 seconds than sank. When I took it out of the water. It was dripping water but then the bottom of the green boat pieces fell off. I was surprised! Now that is dumb that the bottom of the boat does that. Think of a better design lego!!

Hello,

Oh no! I'm sorry you’re having some difficulty keeping the set together to float. We always test and retest our toys to make sure that they’ll hold up to play when they’re built exactly as shown in the instructions. If your set ever seems like it's not very sturdy, the best thing to do is double-check your build. Sometimes there may be a piece just a little off from where it should be. You’ll also want to make sure that all the pieces are pressed tightly together.

If you'd like a hand troubleshooting the build, or if you find that any pieces aren't holding together as they should, feel free to give us a shout at LEGO.build/Service-BV.
