I decided to purchase the Marantz SA 10S1 as probably my "last" CD player. My model is silver and gold and is a beauty to behold! A work of art! I have around 1,000 SACDs and they sound wonderful with this player; often, I find it difficult to turn off my stereo system to go to bed! The actual sound is hard to describe. Treble, mid-range, bass - they're all there in spades. I attend many live music concerts and the sound of the SA 10S1 is "that" sound - live music. I've never been more pleased with an audio-related purchase.

Superb CD, SACD And USB Reproduction

Purchased my SA-10 about one year ago and it replaced a much more expensive SACD player. I've not missed it due to the great sound of my 1,200 CD music collection. It is a very flexible unit and I used the USB input to listen to mixes I've made of different songs and genders. All formates are musical, great detail and with the settings built into this player, you can find the perfect one that will bring out the best of your preamp, amp, and speakers. You could spend a lot more by 3 times the cost of this unit, and you would not gain anything near the outlay to beat this unit and then it would be in certain areas only.

Excellent sound. Very natural, spacious and very goo soundstaging. My SA10 replaced a Krell SACD Standard and it meets or exceeds the Krell in very way

Very good sounding SACD player.
You need to be very precise when putting the CD in the loading tray as it will not recognized the cd if it not sit flat at the tray.
Sleep mode can not be overtight and no trigger input - you need to wait 10-20 seconds for the CD to wake up... Annoying!!
