New smaller 15L size is perfect and I prefer the not having the metal clasp like the previous everyday back pack , it would scratch whatever I leaned my bag against
Absolutely love love love the design, feel and look of this bag. Unfortunately the claim that it fits an iPad 13in must be treated with caution. Yes it does fit the new M1 2021 12.9in, HOWEVER, it is an almost impossible task to get it in or out whilst the iPad is in a cover/case. Specifically the Magic Keyboard. This is disappointing, as the measurement specs provided say that it should.
I’m a marine electrician/technician, I realize the Peak Design is a photography oriented outfitter but I usually carry a few dozen interface connectors, an iPad, a PC (barf) and the associated cables and connectors. After searching to the ends of the internet and comparing different designs (mystery ranch, bellroy, ect) the full wrap zip and the semi structured pack really won by a landslide. It holds my table and laptop and 2 cable organizers with a small pelican case, in style. Can’t praise this bag enough, if you’re primarily modular in your load out this is the bag for you!
The padding on the bottom of the pack is rather thin. I ordered another flex divider to put some additional layer on the bottom of the pack for protection of the equipment. The bag fits a MacBook Pro 13” nicely. The next generation of the MacBook Pro is rumored to be 14” and should be a tight fit (if it does fit). Not a negative, but something to keep in mind.
One issue I have with camera backpacks is that I am very petite, five feet tall and 100 lbs. Most look ridiculously big on me, and call attention to the fact I am carrying some expensive equipment. The 15L Everyday Backpack Zip is ideal for smaller people. It is sleek and not overwhelming at all. It is also very attractive. I can put a surprising amount of stuff in here, a Sony A7iii, Sony 70-200mm lens, Tamron 28-75mm lens, lens hoods, snacks, a sweatshirt or jacket (granted my clothes are also small). It may take some originality to get the dividers just the way you want them, but you can do it however you like, and can also use dividers from other Peak Design bags (I use one from my 10L sling). My 13" laptop or surface pro fit nicely in the laptop compartment. I would like to see one more feature...an outside zip pocket on the front for easy access to phone, keys, etc. Otherwise, it is a great bag.
