[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My wife bought me this because I was getting so frustrated with my Dell Windows tablet. This HP is an amazing replacement. It has AMD graphics, a comfortable backlit keyboard, and an internal smart card reader.
I have used these series of laptops for several years and purchased them for my small business. The main features that attracted me was the lack of a windows install. These machines will never need windows and it's great to not have to pay for it. As of 2020 year, it appears this feature is no more, windows is now manditory. The full size display port connector has been removed and is combined with USB C which is a minor inconvenience, as well as the removal of the SATA hard drive area. This laptop is ONLY M.2. Minor note, the laptop was DOA and I would have purchased another however just since the time of purchasing they have changed their configuration, even though its the same model. Because of this, I will have to go elsewhere in the future.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We are very happy with our AMD Ryzen APU based Hewlett-Packard SFF and DM (desktop mini) PC's, so we were eager to try out the 15W TDP "mobile CPU" versions of those processors, and by no means are we disappointed! Packed with 4 cores and 8 threads thanks to SMT being enabled, these units are snappy and serious workhorses even for heavy multi-tasking scenarios -- especially when loaded with 2x8GB DDR4 sticks for solid dual-channel memory performance. I actually loaded mine with 2x16GB DDR4 sticks for virtualization and Docker -- I'm very please, as you can imagine.
These are great looking, very sturdy (no monitor or frame bending even when held at the edges), fairly resistant to drops less than about 5 feet up (will just sustain some body damage), the versatile USB 3.1 Gen 2 with PD/Thunderbolt 3 Type-C port works great with HP's Thunderbolt G2 120W w/audio module dock, and Bang & Olufsen built-in speakers sound great for laptop speakers. Battery life is solid at somewhere between 5-8 hours depending on load.
I nabbed this at a great price during Cyber Week which sweetened it even further, but even regular market prices are very fair for everything that you get on this model. RAM is very easy to install yourself (or for your IT folks), so don't hesistate to grab an 8GB Ryzen 5 model and add RAM as needed -- it's VERY cheap right, and other brands can be used without voiding the warranty. We use one that rhyms with grucial. They have a great memory compatibility tool on their website -- just enter laptop make and model and they'll show you *guaranteed compatible* SKU's.
All-in-all, I HIGHLY recommend this model to the more productive, power-user or rather techy-savvy type of business users than need almost a desktop-replacement with a lightweight, very portable powerhouse notebook.

Slim design, great keyboard, fast processor and plenty of ports! Also works with the HP docking unit, which provides even more ports and charging, a great option.
I had been searching for a laptop to suit my needs and one that had superior build quality and fixability compared to consumer grade equipment when I became aware of the Elitebook line. Having now worked with them in a professional way for nearly a year at this point I knew that it was going to be the model I wanted for my own personal use. When it arrived in the box the build quality was immediately apparent; from the sleek metallic body, to the easy to access upgradability options, down to the premium feeling keyboard that easily rivals even the best feeling of vintage thinkpads. Performance with its Ryzen 5 was perfectly adequate and did everything I wanted it to, and with the ram upgrade I had waiting for it, had no issues with even the heaviest loads that I personally would place upon the device. The positive first impressions remained positive with the stellar battery life that easily outlasted my last new laptop (which was 10 years ago at this point) by having it last right about 9 hours. I feel that my money was well spent on this device and I look forward to having a long lasting and well performing machine and with its ease of access to the main board, one that's easy to maintain as well!
