Great Refrigerator!

We bought this refrigerator to replace a 25 year old G.E. Freezer that needed a repair. We also had a 32 year old fridge in our garage we wanted to get rid of. We decided on this G.E. fridge based on good reviews and it would easily go down to our basement. It has met our expectations.
Due to pace limitations, I selected the 18 cu ft top freezer refrigerator. I was pleasantly surprised with the large size of the freezer. The internal shelves are great. The door shelves are ok, except the very bottom shelf which is too shallow and too low. This is replacement for prior GE refrigerator.
The motor runs a long time and is very noisy - sounds like my bathroom exhaust fan. When I shut the refrigerator door, the freezer door pops open, then closes itself, but lets in warm air. There's a lot of vacuum on the lower door and the refrigerator is so lightweight that opening the lower door pulls the whole refrigerator away from the wall. There's so little vacuum in the freezer that it seems like the seal isn't tight enough. The ice maker is cheap plastic. The thermostat seems to work OK and keeps the food cold enough. There should be another shelf in the door next to the butter compartment.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Hi, Thanks for choosing a GE refrigerator for your kitchen! We're sorry for any inconvenience with the sound level. Current refrigerator compressors are designed to run more than 80% to 90% of the time. If the door pops open, we suggest viewing our tips here: https://products.geappliances.com/appliance/gea-support-search-content?contentId=16979
The rollers on your refrigerator don't have locks. Due to the size of the doors and the strength of the door gaskets, it's possible that it may roll or move when one of the doors is opened. A piece of wood, a small wood wedge, or plastic furniture coaster with felt on the bottom may be placed under the wheels.
We'll also be sure and pass along your comments about the ice maker and additional shelf to our refrigerator team for future consideration. Thanks so much for the valuable feedback! Stay safe and be well. - Sharon@GEA
