Seems to hold temperature but very noisy

After almost a month now GTE18GTNDRWW finally seems to be 'normailizing'. First few weeks it was extremely noisy when compressor and fans ran. They would cycle on and off with great frequency throughout the day and nighy quite loudly. We were almost at a point where we were going to schedule GE warranty service look at it. If you're looking for a quiet refrigerator, this isn't it.

Basic GE Refrigerator delivers

This basic refrigerator, for a rental unit, delivers what I needed. Looks clean with a textured finish = easy care. I'm glad GE still makes this mode.

18 cubit GE Refrigerator

A decent refrigerator for the cost, however , the plastic framework such as drawers and snack drawer brackets are not strong in the least and easily broken!
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

We appreciate you sharing your views on this model refrigerator. Your comments regarding the quality of the drawers and brackets have been noted for our development team. We'd also like to provide some information about weight limits for refrigerator shelves. Refrigerator with cantilever shelves (have brackets that fit in rear wall supports) are tested for 35 pounds per square foot.
These shelves should not exceed 50 pounds total weight for full width shelves and 25 pounds for half width shelves.
These same limitations hold true for glass and plastic vegetable bin covers.
An example of the weight of an average refrigerator item would be a gallon container. It weighs 8 pounds, and a full width shelf can hold 6 of them. A quart container weighs 2 pounds, and a full width shelf can hold 24. The door shelves have no specific limitations.
Note: The above information also applies to non-cantilever shelves.

Just a simple, basic fridge.The bottom door shelf is very narrow but the top two hold gallon containers, up to five. Spacious inside with cheese drawer that slides left to right. Freezer has plenty of room without ice-maker which can be added as an accessory. Top and bottom handle attachments are somewhat loose but not where you grab and this became a 'who care's' issue after about two days. Only complaint is there is one control for both fridge and freezer temperatures. Energy Star rating helps with operating expense. If you can still think for yourself and don't need an internet-linked fridge to remind you to buy milk, want Energy Star, inexpensive but reasonable quality, no frills product then this would be a worthy candidate.
