Serves basic needs...

We bought this about a month ago after our 17 year old GE side-by-side 25cu ft fridge/freezer died. I really wanted another larger refrigerator, preferably side-by-side, really didn't care if it had an ice maker (our earlier one never worked properly) or all the bells and whistles. Very hard to find a basic fridge/freezer these days.
Unfortunately, our budget only allowed us to buy this smaller one, plus it was available for delivery same day we discovered our old one died, so we didn't have to live out of a cooler until we got a new fridge.
I wish now we had spent a little more and bought a larger side-by-side, even if we had to wait a few more days. This fridge is small, doesn't hold a whole lot of larger items like large tea pitchers, water filter jugs, beverage boxes; a stalk of celery is too long to fit in the crisper; the controls are smack dab in the middle of the upper shelf so they get in the way of storing anything behind them; the fridge is "short", so you have to almost do exercises to bend over to find something on the bottom shelf or under the crispers; and the shelves are flimsy plastic that can't hold too much weight for fear they'll collapse. The freezer is small-ish also, so you have to cleverly pack, stack and place items in to fit everything, then remove many items to retrieve just one. Very frustrating! Also, you MUST double-check to make sure the doors are shut. If you semi-slam the fridge door, the freezer door pops open, vice versa.
This fridge/freezer would be perfect for a single person or couple, not for a family or heavy-duty use, or not if you cook most meals/bake a lot like I do and need to store lots of refrigerated/frozen groceries/ingredients for meals. If you're of shorter stature, and can bend & stoop easily, it would be great. It is easy to clean (at least on the outside), and the price was great.
Bottom line...it serves the purpose for the price, plus it's a GE product, which I am sold on.

Great for small apartments!

This is my second time purchasing this refrigerator. The first time, I bought it for my one-bedroom rental unit and was impressed by its quiet motor and premium features (for the price), such as glass shelves and snack tray. Minus one star for no light in the freezer and the width being a little narrow, compared with the comparable models from other brands. Overall, I was impressed with it enough to purchase a second one for my penthouse studio!

I recently purchased this fridge and have nothing but good things to say, except for the fact that the black cover for the right side (where door handle could be) of the door was not included. Hence the - 1 star.
