Absolutely useless

The app is a complete let down. Even after hard wiring lan cables to 2 x cameras, the live stream just buffers for ages. I have fibre connection at 52mbps. Really disappointed.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Would love to love this camera

It has all the features that I want such as a spotlight, ethernet connection and free cloud recording however as many reviews have stated recently there are too many connection issues. I have three of these cameras, two are no longer usable as they continually reboot during the pairing process. I am 100% confident the third will stop working shortly. I have been fiddling with these cameras for nearly 6 months trying to get them to work reliably. When they do work, they are great however at this point they are about to be put in the garbage. Case 00373887.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I have a number of Swann wifi cameras installed connected to my SafeBySwann App. I recently purchased the 1080p Spotlight Wifi Camera, however this is not supported by the SafeBySwann App, only the inferior SwannSecurity App. I don’t want to run 2 seperate Applications. When will SafeBySwann App be updated to support the Spotlight wifi camera? Thankyou. Con

Great concept, poorly thought out.

At first I thought it was a great product, set up was easy, picture quality was great. But then I started noticing the flaws.
First thing I noticed was the dreadful lag. With my iPhone and the camera on the same wifi, there was between 30 seconds and 2 minutes lag before images/audio would appear on screen, making the idea of the microphone, manual control of the light/siren completely useless. Did a google search and I can see lots of search results with the same issue, but just get a generic page from Swann that they are updating support. Interestingly, I stumbled on a way to view the direct camera output with VLC, and it has minimal delay, so the problem is not the camera, but whatever happens between the camera and the Swann app. Unfortunately with VLC there is no control over the light, microphone or siren, so it isn’t a full solution to the lag problem.
The next thing I noticed was the performance of my home internet was terrible. Turn the camera off and it comes good. Seems whenever the camera is running it is constantly uploading video to the internet, which took near 100% of my NBN uplink speed. There is no option to turn this off, or have it only upload when monitoring, it just constantly runs full bore uploading. The camera can apparently store 2 days of data - I would be happy with that if I could turn off the continual uploading.
As it stands, this makes the product basically useless for anyone with a volume limited internet account or anyone with limited uplink speed - ie most Australian NBN plans.
To make this product any good, Swann need to fix their app to A) improve monitoring performance, especially when phone & camera are on the same network. B) allow some level of control over its uploads, so cloud uploading can be turned off for people with limited internet uplink speeds or data volume.
An option to allow local network storage of video (instead of cloud) wouldn’t go astray either, but if A & B can be fixed, the product would go from being hopeless to brilliant.

The camera has 3 different settings for streaming quality; low, medium and high. If you are having problems streaming you can lower the settings and test to see if it improves. Note that lowering the stream settings does not affect the quality of the recordings. If you have very fast upload speeds you can set your camera to high, but if your upload speed is not that good then we recommend you use medium or low for the streaming setting.
Your network speeds will contribute to how quickly the camera will react. Based on your security needs a wired option may better fit your security scenario. We will send your feedback to our product development team to be reviewed.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] First off, not only is this a camera, it's a motion light, 2 way audio, and night vision/infrared. This is a very high quality, camera with predominantly outstanding reviews. Not only does it's reputation preceed it, it fulfils it! It's manageable with an ap you can download on IOS, Android or Your PC/laptop, and see what's going on outside (or inside) your home from anywhere! I would suggest that anyone searching for a security can to protect their Family and Home, invest in this! You won't regret it.

Great Security

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This Security camera is great! It has a great quality picture of what’s going on. I love that it has Talk & Listen feature. I am able to speak to the person outside without opening the door or going outside. They are able to speak back to me which is great. I am able to record if need be. One of my favorite parts is that it also motion light. That give me the extra security that I need.

Swifi-spotcam - Not working on my Wifi (2 Meters away) but recognises and connects through Android App only with Direct LAN plug in??
I have tried your Online Chat a couple of times and have only been told no one available??
I am experienced with Router settings and have done everything to connect including opening security to allow no restrictions and am now about to throw this camera out as it is useless as a Wifi Camera
I will not be using Swann products again if this remains unsolved, please Assist ASAP!!
No Local IP address in Technical Details??
I want to add as Static IP but not possible without this??

Some experimentation with locations may be required to get the optimal signal, check the signal strength in the app to give you a guide on the most suitable placement options. The Wi-Fi range can be up to 65ft / 20m but the Wi-Fi signal can be reduced by many things around the home. Take into consideration the number of walls the Wi-Fi signal must pass through and their construction. The more solid the building material or the more metal the signal must pass through the more impact it has on the Wi-Fi signal. Also, take note of electrical equipment and other appliances that may affect the Wi-Fi signal.

Don't rely on this camera for security

I have 2 of these WiFi spot cameras and fortunately only installed 1. Twice now the camera has lost connection and can't be remotely rebooted. It's a fat lot of good if to fix the problem if like me you are remote monitoring a property and would have to drive 600miles to fix it. Everything else on the WiFi system is connected and the router reports a good signal to to camera. A secondary problem you might consider before buying the WiFi spotcam, the cable on the camera is short and to get the connections inside the property required drilling a 20mm hole to get the connectors through and I doubt they would extend through a UK standard cavity wall. Look elsewhere.
