Too Loud!!!!!

I bought the Frigidaire -FHPC3660L range hood on the basis of the website stating that the OMHs were between 6-7.
No way...Do yourself a favour and buy a more expensive unit that is quieter!

Somewhat pleased

The island hood looks good. There are three speed settings on the fan. In my opinion the lowest setting is fine and for most applications it provides sufficient air velocity for most cooking applications. The medium and high speeds are much too high and make a very loud noise. In fact the highest speed also vibrates the entire stack. I would suggest that Frigidaire go with a smaller fan in future models. The other challenge specific to my application was my high ceilings (11.5 ft with a 3/12 pitch). I could not use the stainless steel covers that came with the unit as these were too short. Instead I had the internal cage extended and an additional two piece SS cover fabricated by a local sheet metal shop. This cost me nearly as much as the Frigidaire unit itself and I still had to install everything. So buyer be aware that this will require more effort than you might have otherwise thought.

Looks wonderful

Looks and works great but much too loud

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Measured sound levels are much higher than dBA levels stated on website. Level 1 is supposed to be 58.7 dBA but is actually 80 dBA at the intake and 72 dBA where the cook's head would be.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

So loud

Blue Wall, I apologize for any frustration this may have brought to you. I can only imagine how frustrated you may be. If the sound is from excessive vibration, it could be the hood is not fixed properly on the brackets (page 12 in your Owner’s Manual). your hood has three exhaust speeds with the highest setting moving up to 400 CFM. CFM stands for Cubic Feet per Minute of exhausting air flow. The higher the number, the greater the amount of air that is exhausted using the range hood. Think of it as how much faster the air would be cleaned…the higher the CFM, the faster the air is cleaned…..but usually this means the louder the operation. This typically on the low setting, is usually around 3.6 sones (at the sound level of a refrigerator running), up to the highest setting of about 6.5 sones (at the sound level of traffic noise). The filter can be a crucial culprit in creating fan noise. Have you cleaned the filters recently? The efficiency of the range hood depends on the cleanliness of the intake and filters.
