Noisy

I was disappointed at the noise level of the fan, which starts immediately when the oven is turned on and continues for 30 minutes after it is turned off. This happens on the normal bake setting, not just with the convention setting. The fan noise is loud enough to be irritating. I was very happy with our previous KitchenAid oven.

Loud and Confusing

I purchased this 5 months ago and I am still deciding if I like it. The fan is LOUD and annoying. The convection part is, eh, mediocre, don't see much difference between that and a conventional oven. It doesn't bake evenly (which I made to adjust).

Have now had the oven for 9 mos. The convection fan comes on even in the bake cycle. We had someone come out and service it. The service man agreed the fan should not come on in the bake cycle. He called corporate and they told him the fan should come on even during bake cycle. Why does the "cool down" fan come on when you are trying to get it up to temperature? Major flaw in this design. If this is how this oven operates, it was designed by someone who never cooks. Hate this oven and am so disappointed in Kitchenaid..

Brilliant cooking, infuriating fan noise

We've had this oven for about a month. It cooks wonderfully, better than any previous oven I've ever had. However, something that almost completely negates that fact is the internal fan that comes on and stays on when the oven is turned on.
I'm not talking about the convection mode fan either. There is a fan that cannot be seen from outside of the oven. My best guess is that it cools the control panel or another internal component. It clicks on when the oven is turned on and continues to run about 45 minutes after the oven has turned off. It's not quiet either. If you have an open plan home where the kitchen has no significant separation from the rest of your living space this oven will drive you bananas.
I emailed KitchenAid regarding this and they just told me it was by design. It's baffling how this oven could have been tested in any real home without this fan bothering anyone.
So, to summarize. The oven cooks very well but before using it I have to weigh whether I want to listen to a noisy fan run for an hour first.

always on fan is poor design

This oven is not good for baking because there is an always-on fan at the back of the oven (even when not in convection mode) which burns baked goods in the back of the oven. This is a serious design flaw. I wish I had purchased a different oven.
Cons: Serious design flaw

We bought this oven 1 week ago, already unhappy with it. It takes 15-17 minutes to heat up to 425. The fan runs during and after cooking is done. I thought all ovens would be the same except for features like size, color, and convection choices. When looking at them on showroom floor it's not like I would (or could) turn it on to hear if it's loud. It doesn't seem to cook evenly either,
apparently the oven doesn't turn off when timer goes off, it gives the time on oven so you can come back and check. The things I took for granted didn't come with this oven, so I wouldn't recommend this as a great oven.

Fan Noise/Vibration is so LOUD!!!

Put in all new KitchenAid appliances when remodeling kitchen...this oven is pretty, BUT that is all thus far. We have had 4 repair visits so far for the fan vibration noise. On the 4th visit...Stephen the repairman was able to find out that there is a repair kit for the fan to extend the shaft in order to get more space between it and the oven wall....on order & waiting for install...this will hopefully keep the fan that runs continuously from vibrating the oven wall that then causes the metal fan air cover to also vibrate....the noise is horrible!!!! This better fix it or I am going to proceed with declaring this Oven a LEMON!!!

The oven works great. However, we have had ours in place for 5 months and the thermal fuse just blew. We have not used the self-clean function which is what causes this fuse to blow. I really miss the dehydrate feature of my previous oven.
