Unfortunately, one needs to disable software

Bought 2 of them. Fabulous computers. Unfortunately, one needs to disable Cortana, Alexa, Microsoft Edge, Xbox Game Bar, McAfee Antivirus, and some other undesirable software (for privacy or personal preference reasons). Lenovo should make these optional.

IdeaCentre A540 - Unrepairable Sleep Mode Issues

Ongoing problem with the computer going into sleep mode and not being able to wake up! 2 separate computers shipped, both having the same issue. Also, problems with the function keys. Issues were not able to be resolved and requested a refund, not before I had to pay $60 to ship it back to Lenovo while still under warranty.

Please utilize these steps:

1. Standby mode: The operating system will turn off other devices except for the RAM, where documents or programs are stored. If there is no power supply, all unsaved data will be lost. Move the mouse or press a key to resume.
2. Hibernate mode: PCs in hibernate mode normally consume no power. Pressing the power button can wake up the computer.
3. Sleep mode: The RAM should store the data. To wake up the PC, move the mouse or press a key, or press the power button if the power is off (which takes more time).

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Excited to receive this computer but should have paid closer attention to the cooling fan noise comments/complaints. It's LOUD. Also, the battery charger is a great idea but mine wasn't working (yes, it's supposed to). These issues weren't discovered until after I had paid remote IT support to transfer data etc from my other computer. Lenovo agreed to an immediate exchange but then advised me my particular model was "discontinued". How is that possible just days after I purchased it --- and it was still being offered online? So I had to transfer data to a backup hard drive then factory reset the new computer, pack it up and send it back for a refund. Then order a new computer. The reason this review is 3* not 1* is that Lenovo customer service, after I had patiently explained my experience, agreed to a further C$200 refund. So kudos to them on that score.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
