This is a recent upgrade from my RX100 V which I carried everywhere......
I was really only interested in the extended reach of this lens and was surprised to find a whole bunch of additional new features which although welcome, resulted in the setup and menus much more complicated. However, once set up with configurations I like in the memories, it's a lot easier to use, although I occasionally hit a wrong button by mistake!
My preference is actually for a much larger camera which I can hold without fear of dropping, and with a much larger electronic viewfinder through which I can clearly see what's going on. But here's the bottom line for me: in general this camera has a similar featureset to the full-size Sonys, all crammed into a pocketable body. No other camera is like it. It's a winner.
I bought this camera recently and have been experimenting with it. so far I’m very happy with the results. It has many powerful functions and I’m not sure I’ll be able to enjoy all of them, but it will spur me to be a better photographer. My two chief annoyances are that the screen is not touch enabled and the ergonomics are not the best. This camera should have a grip, because it’s small and could easily slip given the material of which it’s made
So far, I am very happy with this purchase. I'm very happy with the photos I've made in the short time I've own the camera. One issue I do have is I have short stubby fingers, and, often times, I will accidentally activate a button that I did not intend.
Love the reach of this camera -- 24 to 200 mm -- great for candid photos on the street.
In the Sonry camera RX-100 M7 box, there's a paper says that if we register, it will extend the product warranty from 1 year to 2 years, but after I registered the camera, the warranty webpage still shows only 1 year warranty, so apparently the paper in the product box lied to us. Sony needs to fix this, otherwise your reputation is going to be very bad in lying to customers!
