Bought it to add to my Sony collection of cameras and this by no means is the very best I’ve ever had

After reading the specs and reviews, I had to try the RX100M7! It has lived up to the hype! At last the perfect compliment to my a9ii, but in my pocket. Wherever I go, I have a good solid camera with me. Ready always. My only wish is the the cycle on time be shortened. Images are fantastic. So far all man held images have been sharp.
I received my camera as a gift and have had a wonderful learning and taking simple professional shots.

A New RX100 Focused on Photography
on October 23, 2025

The Sony RX100 is an amazing compact camera with excellent image quality and design. However, I feel it’s time for a refresh — the RX100 VII is the latest model, and it’s starting to feel a bit old now. Since then, only the ZV lineup has been updated, and that series mainly focuses on vloggers and content creators.
I’d love to see a new RX model that focuses more on photography. It would be great if the built-in flash could be removed and replaced with a smart hot shoe to support advanced accessories. Adding features from the ZV-1 Mark II, such as better photography software, a side-flip screen instead of a top-flip one, and AI-assisted shooting features like intelligent autofocus, smart subject tracking, and scene optimization, would make it much more powerful for photographers.
While the ZV-1 and ZV-1 Mark II have good zoom capabilities, the RX100 series still performs better in that area — a strength worth keeping. The next RX should also emphasize higher resolution, enhanced color depth, and stronger still-photo performance rather than video.
Many young photographers — and even young models — have strict parents who don’t allow phone use, but do allow tablets. I personally let children use a tablet, even to post their creative photos on social media. A compact, photographer-focused RX100 with modern features, AI enhancements, and smart connectivity would be perfect for them.
I truly hope Sony continues the RX line with a new model designed for photographers and the next generation of creative talent.
Camera is great but the supplied USB cable does not fit into the camera slot, the plastic sleeve is too large. I want someone to send me an appropriate cable.

Traded my Sony HX99 for the RX100VII because the functions are pretty similar except the 700mm zoom. The images are much better especially in lower light! Maybe not as good as the Va would be but I needed more than 70mm zoom for wildlife photos! Very happy with stepping up!

Hi, Ollie!
Great shot! Thank you for sharing your feedback. We are glad to hear that you are happy with your new camera. Thank you for choosing Sony!
The RX100 VII is great complement to the cameras on my smartphone. The unit is small and light. The physical zoom and the larger sensor provides are an improvement over those offered by a smartphone, but easy to carry and use.
I bought this RX100 VII camera recently after being on a vacation trip and feeling that my RX10 IV was a little big to carry around. The RX100 VII has all the same features (some even better) with less but adequate zoom range for vacations. 4K video is great with Active Image Stabilization. I am used to the Sony menus so that isn't a problem. I did buy a Small Rig wooden handle for the camera and really recommend it since the camera is hard to hold onto.
