Needs improvement

We’ve used our grinder & stuffer 6 times now. It works but is very slow & you need to people to reduce frustration. Key issues for us were: 1. Need a grinding disk that grinds the bigger pieces more coarse (3/8’s is pretty standard for other machines). A coarse grind followed by the finer grind is recommended by sausage makers for best results. 2. Pushing the meat into the hopper is where the air gets in & causes problems. And is the reason you need 2 people. Seems like a larger hopper with a hinged lid plunger would help.

Not an ideal addition to the mixer

I’ve loved using my kitchenaid mixer for a few years, and I decided to purchase the sausage kit. Grinding the meat seemed a little tedious, but the machine got the job done. Stuffing the casings is where the issue came in. As with other reviews, my main complaints are excessive air in the stuffer, and needing a second set of hands to manage the sausage as it grows from the end of the attachment. There seem to be two main design flaws: The hopper isnt’t big enough, and the plunger is not appropriately sized to push the meat mixture through smoothly. This accessory can eventually get the job done, but Not without a lot of frustration. if you want it done efficiently and easily, you should consider a purpose-built sausage stuffing device.
