it kinda works

I bought the plastic grinder and stuffer as a kit. I've made sausage a handful of times with it. Today was my last day with it. Frankly, it barely works. The grinder is fine, slow but fine for home use. But the stuffer is useless. It took me 2 hours to stuff 5lbs f ground meet with this thing. The plunger doesn't do anything but push air into the casing. I've researched to see if I was doing anything wrong, but I can't find anything. I have 5 more lbs to do tomorrow and I am not looking forward to it all. I think I'll invest in a real sausage maker now. I love the KA mixer, but this attachment just isn't worth the effort unless you are just making a link or two. FWIW, I have used a real stuffer and the difference is night and day.

Bought this a few months ago. It works in addition to the food grinder attachment. You have to know what you are buying and what you are doing, but it makes a great product!

Poor design

I too bought this stuffer kit a number of years ago, I have struggled over and over again with the plunger design and now both stuffing tubes have cracked around the opening and have broken off. I continued to struggle with this set up until they both broke. Now I want to replace the tubes but unsure if I wouldn't be better off with another brand if there has been no improvement.

Waste of time and money!

Bought this to start making my own sausage to smoke in my smoker. Tried it one time and swore that I wasn't even cleaning it and just throwing the unless plastic in the trash. Somehow my wife found, cleaned and put it away and then encouraged me to try it one more time. Should have thrown it away last time, just like I threw away my money when I purchased it.
Pros: Not one single thing I can think of.
The plunger is close to 1/4" smaller than the neck of the stuffer so when you are trying to push the meat through the worm gear you just have all of the meat squeeze up and around the plunger. 25 minutes into the task I wound up with 2" of something you could possibly call sausage. All I really managed to stuff into the casings was air.
Not sure how this even made it on the shelf to be sold to anyone. Save your money and look away.

Confusion

Here is what I don't understand: if you have so many loyal followers (customers) pointing out the same flaws about this product (sausage stuffer), why are you still selling it? Why wouldn't you just go back to drawing board and make the improvements? I get it may be costly on the front end, but in the back end it will pay for itself exponentially.

Just is not a sausage stuffer.

Doesn't do anything to assist with stuffing sausages. I have to push down so hard on the plunger for a long time to fill one casing, like it's only the pressure of me pushing the meat through and not the machine helping.

Once and done

What a nightmare. I wanted to love this so much. And then I used it. What a disaster... There is a major issue of air suction/vacuum with the tamper, and there is no gravity helping you whatsoever. The auger doesn't want to catch the meat at all unless you are constantly pushing down hard with the tamper... I would have been better off just sticking the meat in a pastry bag and squeezing it into the casing - at least then I wouldn't have to keep fighting the meat coming back out or getting stuck to the tamper. Absolute flop. The only upside is that it was pretty easy to clean.
It took my husband and I 2-3 hours to stuff just under 5 lbs worth of sausage, and that was through sheer determination.
