[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought the phone and dual screen 4 days ago. At the time I asked about a case and was told that the front screen is supposed to be "super durable" and it should be good as long as I just keep the dual screen closed. It ended up falling out of my pocket at work 2 days later and the front screen completely cracked in all directions. The phone has been great to use, but i don't understand why the whole front screen has to be glass in the first place, or why it isn't better protected. Worst of all, I can't find a way to request a repair on just the dual screen. So now, either I have to use it as-is (putting tape or something over the cracked glass) or buy another one and find some independent way to protect it.

LG strives to create devices that will withstand the rigors of daily life. That being said, it is next to impossible to develop a device that will perform in every scenario. Long time galaxy user but this phone was worth the leap. Same android interface. But LG wins in accessories and expandable memory. 2T! Bought one for my business and one for my son the gamer!

Awesome device... BUT

Does anyone else have customers a little upset that the extremely useful Volume Slider is not an option any longer in the drop down settings? Every other LG device has the option to turn this on/off. LG G8X only has the option for the Brightness as seen with the screen shot. LG V50 has the old options. Very odd to omit this. Any chance a minor OS update could add this?
Also a little odd that a native email app was not included. Some don't like all the "Jazz" gmail & yahoo want to add to their apps.

Excellent Phone, Fantastic Storage, Good Cameras

I've been an LG user for a while. I had their G5 for a few years, and was in love with the camera, so when it came time to upgrade, the G8X ThinQ was the logical choice. It's a fantastic phone with excellent battery life and performance.
The cameras are good, but for some reason I feel as if they're not as good as the cameras in the G5. The is some artifacting when images are viewed at full resolution, especially very detailed images. I'm also confused as to the choices that were made as far as the megapixelage because, while the main and wide angle cameras are 12MP and 16MP respectively, the selfie camera on the front is... 32MP? And while, yes, you can save a picture taken with it as a 32MP image, that image is not any more detailed or of significantly higher quality than the default 8MP image that it saves (if anything, it looks like an enlarged 8MP image). I feel as if it would have made more sense to swap the 12MP main camera with the 32MP selfie camera as they have approximately the same field of view (78° standard vs 79° selfie) and so that higher pixel count could have been used to a much higher potential.
One place the cameras do shine is in video. Videos taken with it are beautiful, and it captures crisp, stereo audio without much noticeable scuffing. One of my big complaints about the G5 was that, while taking video, the sounds of your hand scuffing against the camera often drowned out anything else you were trying to hear, and LG seems to have fixed that with the G8X. I also like the fact that it gives you an "ASMR" setting to capturing quiet audio: this is great for capturing the sounds of wildlife or anything in a quiet setting without having to use an external mic or being right on top of the subject.
Finally, having 128GB of internal storage is a blessing, especially since you are unable to move any apps to the SD card anymore. The SD card, which can be up to 2TB in size, is only used for media such as photos, videos, and some cache data (Spotify, for instance, stores downloaded audio to the SD card; and Pocket Casts stores downloaded podcasts there as well). Having adequate storage for apps is important, and 128GB has, thus far, been more than enough: even after six months of use and many, many app downloads, I am still only using 34% of the internal storage. Mileage will vary, of course, depending on how many apps you download and how often you do "spring cleaning" but, for the most part, the internal storage plus a high-capacity SD card should be enough for most people.
The G8X ThinQ is a great phone, and you can tell that LG put real thought into the design. Sometimes it's difficult to understand what those thoughts were or where they came from, but the quality is still present. This is a flagship phone that you can tell is a flagship phone, and which promises to remain relevant and not require upgrading for some time to come.

Dual Screen nice filled with useless apps

I bought this phone 2 months ago and it is less than ideal. Doesn't play apps unless tied to WiFi, full of useless apps and can't remove them. The magnetic clip works to charge at home but in the vehicle keeps dropping off phone. When you remove the phone and plug it directly music apps will stop and others won't play.Pictures are good and design okay extremely slippery without a protecting case.

Great phone but dual screen already falling out

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I only had the case for a few months and the dual screen is already detaching. I looked up how to fix it and it seems like a few other people have the same problem with that area. I think they didn't glue the bottom part of the screen on very well. Might be a manufacturing issue. First time getting n LG PHONE, might be my last.
