Bought this to help me keep my freezer foods from burning -- works like a dream and very easy to use. My son-in-law has an older version and has been coming over to use mine. super quick, quiet and easy!!

I purchased the 4980 2-in-1 instead of the FM3920 because it's a MUCH BETTER machine with MANY more options and does a much better job for about the same price. It also has a "pulse" option which allows the user to control the amount of vacuum used to seal an item.

This is my second unit. It’s a more modern unit, smaller, with lots of improvements over the last unit which I inherited after my father-in-law passed away. Combined usage was about ten years of service. Loved the old one, love this one even more ‘cause it’s smaller, takes less space on the counter, has some much more intuitive features, and looks to be thoroughly re-engineered. If I get ten years on this new one, I’ll be ecstatic. Love the new ziplock bags. Love that the adapter for sucking air out of containers is now a built-in tool and not a separate adapter that I was forever dropping on the floor and/or hunting in the cupboard for, and this new FoodSaver is so much more quiet too. Great job FoodSaver people!

This machine operates as promised and is an all out Rock Star. I think the reason people have problems with seals is they don't put their meats on a cookie sheet and freeze them for half an hour prior to sealing. I've NEVER had a bad seal or juice being sucked through into the trough.

It’s very easy to operate but sealing food that is at all wet, like deli meat, is difficult. For regular cuts of meat it’s terrific - the meat stays fresher much longer and takes up lots less freezer space. We are super happy with our FoodSaver!

To the wonderful gentleman that helped me today. I am sorry I didn't take down your name. Thank you! 1st off! I believe Foodsaver has to have better instructions and videos. Think of Foodsaver for dummies! I purchased mine a week ago and could not get it to vacuum seal. He was so patient and kind and helped me all the way through it. I found it hard to find any videos on line, and the few manual directions they give are not the best. With his help, I was able to do a package of my seasoned chicken breasts. I also have steaks going right now, that I am trying with the sous vide method, so time will tell. From what I understand, if they sink, they are vacuumed properly, and they certainly are doing that. Thank you so much for your help. I am only disappointed I didn't take your name. Oh, and also that I went through a good portion of the roll that came with the unit and wasting them, trying to figure this out. They are not cheap. So far, I will give this a 4 since I have only had it a week.
