The function and convenience in my FM 3940 (same as 3920, but with stainless front) is all that I can ask for. The only thing I find myself having difficulty with is determining how long to cut the bag without being either wasteful or cutting short. I'm sure that trial and error will eventually teach me, but if anyone has a "rule of thumb" to visually line up below the trim bar while knowing the size of the item to be sealed would be appreciated.
I would recommend this to a friend!

We're thrilled you like your new FM3940 so much! It definitely helps stretch your food dollar further while requiring minimal effort. As for how long to cut the bag for sealing, a good rule of thumb is to leave about 3" (or 3 fingers) between your food and the end of the bag. You should get a perfect seal every time that way. Thank you for your continued loyalty to the FoodSaver brand!

So, I bought this Foodsaver model a few months ago and I have to say it's saved me money. The problem has always been wasted food from the freezer. Exposed to air and that's it. You don't use it, you lose it! Not with my Foodsaver. It's easy to use and I really like the compartment on top for rolls and the built in cutter bar. Such a time saver. It's great that it has a gentle setting so baked goods don't get crushed in the vacuum sealing and food lasts so much loner and best thing of all? No freezer burn. I love it.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is my second food saver. The first one lasted 15 years. It was time to get a new one. I really like the attacked hose for bottles and The reusable vacuum bags. I also like having a cutter built into the machine. I use it for everything from packing lunches for work to food for hiking. I also use it to vacuum pack reloading components.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was not sure what to think when I received this Food Saver. I had a Food Saver before and it did not work that well. So when I got this one I was worried. Well I was wrong to be worried. This one is so much better. It has a strong vacuum and even when you use the hand held one that takes the air out of a ziplock bag. I have saved meat and many other items with it. I would Highly recommend this product. I buy most of my food in bulk at a wholesale club. So this comes in handy when I need to split up the 3lbs of meat. I received this product to test it.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] After removing the FoodSaver FM3000 from its box my initial impression was that it was an attractive appliance in all black and would look very nice displayed on my kitchen counter. I read through the quick start instruction and got a general idea of how to operate the appliance. The first item I tried was a partial bag of chocolate chips. On my first attempt it didn't appear to vacuum sufficiently so on my second attempt I tried a smaller sized bag that fit the chips better and made sure to press out any excess air before sealing and that did the trick. It yielded a perfectly sealed bag of chocolate chips that fit nicely in my drawer of baking items. I then sealed some dry noodles and again had a perfectly sealed bag. Sealing a wet item like beef stew was a little trickier as I tried to insure I didn't spill any of the liquid, but practice made perfect. I'm very pleased with this food sealer for its ease of use and overall performance and expect to get a lot of use out of it.

I bought this to replace my Vac900 from over 20 years ago and I have to say it's close, but not as easy to use. I live the removable tray and the roll holder, but I think the sealer and the cutter should be switched in the machine. My Vac900 had the cutter after the roll holder and then the sealer. That way you could seal the bag and cut it after you sealed it. It worked so much better. Also the moist setting doesn't really help with sealing moist food. It still seals about the same as a regular seal. I like the machine but miss the features of the older model a lot!
